Rear leaf springs noise

I know this has been a topic a few times. Ive read the posts I found through search. Was curious if anyone has replaced the springs with GMC parts and if so, was the problem corrected?
What I'm trying to find out basically is if I order a new set of springs from GMC for my truck based on VIN will I get a set that possibly has the same issue or if there was any actual type of change in the springs to correct the noise and as such the new springs would be updated?

The dealer will not do anything through warranty because of the lift. I don't mind buying a new set as long as I know they are somehow different in some way from the ones I have.
Figured maybe someone knows if there was a part number change or a TSB on this. Anything really would help.
The dealer service dept. is fairly useless and I've leaved over time that things like this I usually have to correct myself. The cost isn't the issue but rather getting the right parts if in fact that is what was causing the condition.
Any info would be appreciated. Otherwise I'll probably buy them and see what happens and post results.
The squeak is so bad now that opt to drive my 99 Tacoma instead of the sierra any time I can to avoid the aggravation. I know, that's sad but it really is that bad.

I had the springs replaced ( and one rear shock) on my GMC AT... fixed my issues. It took 3 or 4 trips to dealer... since they would only replace on part at a time...

My rear springs make some noise. I had a shock replaced, but that's because it was leaking.

 

Haven't complained enough to get it replaced. but it seems to get worse when its wet.

Trying to follow along, what kind of lift do you have? I have a 6" Pro Comp and I swore I my leaf packs were squeaking. You could push down on the back bumper and even the smallest movement made the sound. Turned out it was a bad rear shock, replaced them with Fox and no problems almost a year later.

 

Depending on the height of your lift you can always do an upgrade to Deaver or Atlas lift springs, that is my intentions to improve the ride.

Yep mine does this when it's wet outside mostly. It also looks like the bottom leaf on the side making the noise (passenger side) is slightly out of plumb with the 2 upper springs so maybe something needs to be tightened up? I'm going to bring it up at my next oil change.

The very same thing with me. I though at first it was a differential grinding noise. It was worse on accelerations, stops and turns but noticeably in wet conditions

Same on mine. I showed my service writer this last time I was in. And he said that's normal. And everything is tight. BS.

I had this same issue with my 2014 Silverado 4x4 double cab from day one, most noticeable backing up while turning left/right. Spare was tight, exhaust wasn't knocking anywhere, took it into our shop and had a couple of Techs ride with me without telling them what to listen for and they too heard the clunk/bang/thump. We packed the leaf springs with grease as per an older bulletin, noise was still there. TAC suggested replacing the rear shocks which we did, noise was still there. We went over all cab/bed/suspension bolts and nuts, the noise was still there. We put the "ears" on and drove about but got nothing helpful. I had another Tech look at the truck without filling him in on what had been done, he went over all mount/suspension bolts and found the rear leafs were 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch out of alignment laterally(the grease was disturbed), we put a few large hose clamps around the leaf packs and drove the truck, NO MORE NOISE. Got the ok from TAC and replaced both rear leaf springs. We have submitted a P.I report to GM and had a field engineer from Oshawa pick up the springs for inspection, he told me he had seen this on older trucks but this was a first for him on the 2014/2015s.

If you experience this type of noise from the rear of your truck have a close look at the leaf alignment.

You might try some aerosol dry lubricant between the leaves instead of the grease.

Mine made noise on the drivers side after I installed them. I sprayed between the leaves, and the mounts with WD40. Hasn't made a noise since.

So. There are 4 part numbers for springs on the 1500 trucks, 2014 and 2015, 4x4. One number is for regular cab standard box. One is for crew cab short box. One covers regular cab long box, crew cab standard box, and double cab standard box without NHT max trailer. The last one is for NHT equipped trucks. So if anything, its probably spring rates between them. If there are any updates to the springs since the truck came out, then the replacement set should have them. Shocks is where all the variations get wild.

 

The only bulletin out there I think is for spring squeak. The fix is greasing the pads in between each spring. It does note that it should be done every so often as it can re-occur.

Correct, any grease or lube will be temporary, the bulletin states that it will have to be re applied, the real issue here is the lateral movement of the leaves within the pack. Hopefully GM gives us an updated spring and corrects the problem.

I have the same issue with my truck...was having a hard time figuring out where the sound was coming from. It is definetly coming from the left rear. Going to the dealer on Tuesday morning.

Look..I'm new here but so far, all I have seen from you guys is sympathy and no actual solution(s). Correct me if I'm wrong.
