Need some more info here, that paragraph was confusing. Do you need to know where the cabin filter is on your truck, or do you need to know where to get a cabin filter?

You don't have a filter from factory, you need to add one with the retrofit kit. Here is a thread with the door part number and charcoal filter part number. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/166365-add-on-hvac-air-filter-kit-now-available/?hl=cabin+air+filter

Dealer should be able to look those parts up for you and order them, or you can go onto rockauto and order them yourself.

Well now...the trucks have NOT had a cabin air filter since 2003. 2014 is the first year for their return...so him not aware is acceptable...and doesn't make him a moron...

That said...there is only one cabin air filter that shows up for the new trucks...22808781. The only carbon/particulate filter that I can find is the one for the cabin filter retrofit kit for 2007-2013 trucks, 23101674. Both that and the regular cabin filter numbers for the 2007-2013 truck are different than the 2014 one. So, no guarantee that the carbon/particulate will fit the new truck.

And being that you are posting in the 2014 and up truck thread, I am to assume that you have a new 2014 or newer 1500, or 2015 2500 truck.

So my truck is a 2014. Additionally does have the cabin filter, as I just pulled it out to look at it. To which after a week it is more dirty than the engine filter! This is a horrible design!

I haven't been able to find the charcoal filters for the 2014 in fram or. STP. The charcoal one in this link however looks similar in size so I am going to order it and see, so thanks for the link.

For now however, I removed the filter and sprayed it with duct cleaner I got from Autozone, then wrapped it with scent free dryer sheets. So far no outside smells, and I smell good too.

Hopefully the retrofit air filter will match

How is it a horrible design? Just imagine if the filter wasn't catching all of that dirt and particulates from the air, you and your passengers would be breathing it and it would collect on the vents and dash top.

Behind glove compartment.

Passenger Compartment
Air Filter
The filter reduces the dust, pollen,
and other airborne irritants from
outside air that is pulled into
the vehicle.
The filter should be replaced as part
of routine scheduled maintenance.
See Maintenance Schedule on
page 11-3. To find out what type of
filter to use, see Maintenance
Replacement Parts on page 11-16.
1. Open the lower glove box door
completely.
2. Remove the four screws from
around the lower glove box.
The door does not need to be
removed to access the screws
3. Close the lower glove box door
and pull it from its frame to
remove the entire unit.
4. Release the two tabs holding the
service door. Open the service
door and remove the old filter.
5. Install the new air filter.
6. Close the service door and
secure the tabs.
7. Reverse the steps to reinstall the
glove box.
See your dealer if additional
assistance is needed.

I say it is a bad design because I have never ever driven a vehicle where you could not keep out the outside air! I travel at least every other month and have been in almost every car you can think of and have never been in a vehicle where I had to smell exhaust, restaurants, skunks,etc..... So if the dealership is telling me the recirculating is working properly, I say this is a crappy design. A $20k Kia doesn't have this issue, my Tundra certainly different, and as much as I actually like this truck. ..... This issue trumps it all.

I looked at rock auto and they show an acdelco part that might be the charcoal one , I'll let everyone know

If you don't want outside smells coming into the cab you either have to turn the recirculate on or run the AC all the time as it will force the recirculate on. There was an update to the HVAC system last year when owners were complaining of the dust in the cab, GM reprogrammed how far open the recirculate door stayed open I believe.

That is the same filter thats in the truck already. "CF" stands for "Cabin Filter".

Some customers may comment that they have excessive dust intruding into the cabin of their pickup. This concern will be more noticeable when the HVAC is in recirculation mode. When in recirculation mode, the outside air is completely closed off and the HVAC system is recirculating 100% of the cabin air. This will cause very low cabin pressure and may allow dust to enter the cabin at various locations.

GM Engineering has released updated HVAC calibrations which will close the recirculation door 90% when in recirculation mode. This will allow the HVAC system to draw in approximately 10% outside air, thus slightly pressurizing the cabin, making it more difficult for dust to enter the cabin. This is similar to how the previous generation truck's recirculation mode operated.

Note: This new calibration may have a marginal decrease in HVAC cooling and slightly more outside ambient noise being heard in the cabin, while in recirculation mode.

If your truck was built after January 7th, this might explain your "odor" issues.

I showed that quote to Hiley gmc in Grapevine Tx. They told me no such notice existed, right after they told me it was "against the law "to make changes to the speed restrictor! Will be taking to another dealer, as now after Hiley touched my truck my ambient temp sensor thinks it is in Wisconsin.
