2014 Sierra All Terrains 1st snow

my air dam is sitting on back porch!! went through low spot on dirt road slow and it tore the air dam off at several mounting bolts, the older 07 and 11 air dam was a softer plastic and would flex out of the way not on the 2014 it tore it!! tough with the poor ground clearance of the chevy 4x4 trucks

 

Was told the air dam is not really needed till you tow in hotter weather for proper air flow into the radiator, anyone heard of this situation?

Mine plowed snow all last winter. I was waiting for it to tear off, but it took it like a champ. Might remove it this winter, it sits pretty low.

was at dealer yesterday guy came in with stock 2014 silverado to have the front air dam replaced he hit a curb while pulling into parking spot and it tore it off at the mounting area on the left side bet they are selling a lot of them?

I have no idea... Most guys haven't taken them off where I live and I haven't seen many broken or hanging off partially. I'm just debating whether or not I want to put mine back on in the spring. I think my truck looks good with and without it. I know I'll be taking it off for winters so is it really worth it to keep putting it on and taking it off every 6 months? I can't decide.

With Duratracs, a level, and no air dam, mine plows through snow with ease. I half wrecked my air dam last spring, getting to a fishing spot, on the other side of a mud hole.

It finally snowed just enough to need 4x4 in some areas so I was able to try out the auto 4x4. This probably goes without saying but even with 3.08 gears this '14 is night and day compared to my old 98 Z71. I wish it would have snowed more, but I'll take a couple inches. I went by Walmart and of course they had a huge pile of snow and I was tempted to drive up on it a little but I decided not to since it's stock height and not even leveled. I'm glad I at least removed that plastic valance this past summer though or it would have gotten tore up on a few high spots of snow from plows. I felt a lot more comfortable with going just a little faster than I would in my 98, even with the factory Goodyears.
