Don't get me wrong clay still has its place and is a good product.

Care to share? I'm getting old but not set in my ways.

Not against new products, but I for one stick with things that work well...so in my case, I'll stick to the old school method and continue using clay. It's worked well for me, is cheap, easy to use and provides the results I'm looking for. I too suffer with OCD when it comes to detailing my vehicles and I am meticulous about it, can't stand it when my vehicles are not ultra-clean.

Example below; my vintage 26+ year old 1988 Mercedes 560SL at 155k miles with its original paint finish, clay'd, polished with 3M Perfect It and Zaino Products. Many who see it can't believe its the original paint.

Don't worry I'm young and still didn't know there was an alternative to the claybar!

Nice Benz looks good... I am a fan of classic bens's, on my bucket list to own a pre 1998 SL500 AMG

Thanks. The 90's era SL500's are plentiful and cheap, easy to find a nice one these days....when you do just ensure the roof hydraulics (16 separate modules) are in good working condition as its the most costly repair you'll encounter with the R129 class Benz.

Example: '98 SL500 44k miles, $17k, http://www.mbca.org/classified-ad/1998-sl500-sport

I haven't been paying as much attention to the detailing forums as I had in the past. I did not know about these new clay mitts or the large number of paint and glass coating on the market now. I guess when you have six different jars of paste wax alone, you tend to stop looking at the new stuff.

Clay also removes any overspray and it cleans windows well also

I never used it on windows before. Does it get rid of water spots on glass?
