Visual quality on backup camera!

I am disappointed with the graphical quality of my back up camara. It's seems to enhance colors in a negative manner that it almost seems cartoony reducing the distance I'm able to see. Does any one else have this same problem with theirs? I loved the camara on my 07 Tahoe and my wife's accord is phenomenal. I havn't checked any others yet and honestly I didn't notice it when I was test driving.

Mine is clear and I'm pleased with it. The one on my last car was exactly as you described, and it drove me nuts. I couldn't get the dealer to address it, so I gave up and lived with it. My point is, because I dealt with a terrible one, I find the one on my Denali to be excellent quality view.

Yep. Got in a 13 2500hd that had the one mounted in the mirror. The image was crystal clear. My 15? Sucks.

My 11 (mirror) was clear as well, just to small. I'm liking the new one on the nav screen.

Compared to my '11 Tundra the camera on my '14 gmc is the difference between black and white and color televisions from 1980/2014.
Without something to compare to, the '14 gmc is ok but when you have something else for comparison its night and day difference. The gmc is so low quality compared to a truck 3 years older. The Tundra backup cam picture is much clearer, shows more space and provides a better rearview overall. However, it is what it is, when buying the gmc nobody said I'd have HD quality backup camera so I'm not upset but its interesting how little things can show up as insufficient.
I'd have thought simply because of the difference in years the newer truck would have an as good if not better camera. I was wrong. Its not something that would be a deal breaker but the camera in my truck compared to others I've seen is terrible. Its a good thing I can backup without needing a camera.

I have no issues with the camera on my wife's truck, I can see everything I need to see. I've been impressed with the night visibility too. Could there be dirt or dust on the lens affecting the view?

Well being that this is the only truck I've had with a backup camera I'm just happy I have one. The only time it's bad is if it's raining or been raining and I see rain drops on it, or if it's cold enough to need a defrost lol. I'm not going to complain about it though, like I said, I'm just glad it came with one. Plus I'm not looking for a backup camera to be HD. I'm also glad that they use the screen in the dash instead of in the rearview mirror. Much bigger and doesn't take up room on the mirror even though I don't really use it anyways lol. The guide lines are awesome also.

No dirt it is very good at low light but not durning the day. It's good enough to get it done though.

I agree it's not great. The movies I play look much better so I know the screen can do better. The last time I was hooking up I was going toward the foot of the jack because it looked like the tong. Once I got closer I could tell what everything was and had to move back forward to get where I need at the right angle to clear the building. It seams to me there should be no reason we can't upgrade the camera, but I'm certainly not the guy to know what camera would work and do a better job.

I know the ones that have had other vehicles with the camera can compare. I wondered if being wireless was a reason but I see others that have had other trucks have had better. The reason I'm not exactly worried about it is because I only use it when I'm backing right up to something and just like knowing how close I am to the object(s). It's clear enough for me for what it's used for. I wouldn't really sweat it is what I'm saying.

It's not great by any means by it works. Wife's 14 e550 e class back up camera is super nice quality.

The post about backing up to a trailer is right on the money.
When backing to trailers in other vehicles with I was able to see exactly what I needed to get hooked up the first time every time.
With the new truck I've thought I was on target a couple times only to find out once I was out of the truck to hook up I was off enough to have to get back in and redo.

It takes some practice to know when I'm on target with this truck and after 9 months I think I have it down.

For general view its fine but I've certainly seen higher quality oem backup cams on other vehicles.

      Thanks; I looked there a few minutes, and I think I can find something. I really never looked there, as I thought it was stuff like PTO/aftermarket bodies/accessories like snow plows.

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
