2010 Headlights vs 2015 headlights (CHEVY)

My 2010 had the brightest headlight of any car on the road. (excluding Grand Cherokee)

So, bright that I have gotten to the point where I can spot these trucks driving at me.

Why are the 2015 not as good?

Do we have HID lights in the Chevy's?

I know there are expensive kits to get more light, but I don't want to spend that and I didn't have to spend it on my 2010.

Anyone else notice the lights are not as good as the older generation?

Is there a better bulb that doesn't need a complete $300 kit?

why, is this not going to end well?

I really think my older truck had better lights.

I've owned an 03, 07, 11 and now 14. The 2014 has the best headlights of all my trucks. They seem quite bright in my opinion.

My 2014 stocks (non-projector) were the brightest headlights I have ever had. Because the truck was lifted I would be blinding people in cars and getting flashed constantly because people thought I had my brights on.

I have to admit I do miss them when a dickhead cuts me off at night.

I have been thinking the same thing

I am coming from a 2010 Lt to my 2014 ltz and think the new headlights are really dim compared to the old ones

Well one has projectors and one has reflectors. Yes the reflectors will seem brighter close to the truck but that isn't where you want the intensity to be. The projectors will throw better light further down the road and that is what you want.

Thanks for the explanation of the difference between the two light systems

I still feel the 2014 headlights are not as bright and I have to switch to high beams more or earlier than before on the same roads I have traveled on for the last 20 years

You can throw an HID system in those projectors and the light output will easily double. There is a whole thread on it here

Most of us don't want to have to upgrade or spend more money on our brand new truck.

Specially on something that was better 5 years ago.

I for one happen to enjoy customizing my cars. Granted I didn't pay for mine so I guess it's a little different

I like customizing cars I consider toys. I want my $40k truck to be correct from the start.

If I want to work on a car it will be my corvette or 46.

I have the projector headlights. I'd buy an HID kit just for the sake of having more light output but honestly, I think the lights are just fine. I haven't upgraded because it seems every HID kit out there has some kind of problem and I don't really want to modify my leased vehicle (or pay an arm and a leg just to make sure both lights turn on every time the lights turn on).

Although I think my headlights are fine I would love HIDs. But I have the same issue. It seems like even the best kits are full of problems. At least on these trucks anyway.
