Mine only does it when its cold and using E85. On regular 91 or 87 gas it starts up instantly, might take an extra crank or two to get going on e85

It doesn't matter if its cold or warm.

Next time you are going to start it trying just turning the ignition key to the run position, waiting for a couple seconds, then turn the key all the way to start. This allows the electric fuel pump to build pressure up to the high pressure mechanical pump. Mine seems to start with less cranking when I do this.

I noticed this winter that my truck does take longer to crank when it's cold. Last summer it cranked fine and I am glad the crank times were posted earlier to explain this and I honestly thought something was wrong.

I'm glad I read this and the thread linked above. I noticed the last few days the truck took longer to crank. I never noticed it before because I always remote start the truck but this time I happened to be standing near the window listening and thought it was odd but everything seems fine with it so I attributed it to the colder weather but I wasn't 100% sure. This puts my mind at ease.

Following are typical DI engine crank times using gasoline:

If the temperature is below -22°F (-30°C), the recommendation is to perform an assisted start (such as with the use of a block heater).

From GM techlink, for the new DI engines.
