Ltz z71 or High Country

I personally like he Z71 better, I don't like the HC rims or the interior look fake. Bumpers are nice color matched (depending on the rims) but watch for bugs and nows new paint chipping/peeling issue. Those bugs could expedite that.

 

As for the VIP thing, don't sweat it, once u sign papers U don't get no extra glory just a payment lol! All gm's get the same 2 year maintenance included.

 

It's all on preference, Z71 feels like a truck. HC feels like a luxury car ride. Good luck keep us updated

I have a 2014 Z71 with cooled seats so if what you are saying is true they changed it for 2015.

It was just something I thought I'd seen in an exchange on these forums. Obviously I am the one who is wrong if you're sitting in your new truck with the seat coolers on and reading this. Maybe it was the LT model; maybe I'm finally losing it. But I still would take the HC 4x4.

Something tells me you're just assuming that. If anything if you bought the vehicle from the same dealership that you're having service done then they may go the extra mile. I'll believe that part you said if you worked in the service department at a dealer. Plus even if they did at that dealer it doesn't mean that's how all dealers are since they're privately owned.

Buy the High Country and don't look back. I have the 6.2 and it is a monster, actually kind of hard to drive in the snow, unless you like spinning the wheels, which can be fun at times.

Food for thought: if I bought Z71 then I would opt`ed for 18" and go aftermart wheels, High Country I would keep the 20s.

Also Silver Z71 and High Country would be black.

 

Also I know this is my money just looking for opinions and knowledge from others.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. About to order my truck in a month or so and have been reading a lot.

 

High Country: The only thing you get extra is an appearance package. Interior, painted bumpers, wheels, and spray-in bed liner, and the high country badging. That's it. Everything else, you can add onto the LTZ Z71.

 

My opinion, is the HC wheels are absolutely FUGLY. I like the painted bumpers and interior. However, I will be getting aftermarket wheels no matter what so the standard factory wheels aren't a huge issue.

 

It's a hard choice ain't it? I want the HC solely for the interior and painted bumpers. However, with the LTZ Z71 you can get Cocoa Dune which is a nice beige-brown color, and you can always get the "custom sport package" which has the painted bumpers. Or, get them painted later on down the road by someone.

 

Personally, I am leaning towards the LTZ Z71 6.2L CC SB right now. It just looks more like a rugged, aggressive, luxurious truck. I love the Z71 badging and the more "off-road" look of it. Plus, I don't see the point in paying an extra 2-3 grand for the HC when it's simply an appearance package. Also, something to consider, your insurance WILL be higher on the HC compared to the LTZ Z71. Not only because it's more expensive, but because it's the premium trim level.

 

You can make the LTZ Z71 (both from the factory OR by a shop later on) look like the HC. The only thing missing will be the brown interior.

 

So, as someone in the exact same situation you are, I would go with the LTZ Z71. I will be getting new wheels, and a spray in liner right off the bat. So, the only thing for me to consider is body painted bumpers and interior color. But, like I said, the Cocoa Dune is just as nice as the brown, and the painted bumpers can be put on by ordering the sport package, or painting them later on. To me, it just seems silly to buy the HC. However, with all of that said, I very well may end up changing my mind.

I'd just go drive them and see what you like better bud. I was set on a 15' LTZ and ended up getting a 15' SLT when it was all said and done lol.

High Country, it sets itself apart from every other trim and just looks premium. Although I agree not sure how I feel about rims or leather, but love every other aspect.

The Z71 pkg is only a $690 option/upgrade. Not sure it's even worth that. Except for the shocks it's all appearance. I have not seen one yet with aluminum control arms I thought the Z71's were supposed to have.

The Sierra Z71 Off Road Package includes upgraded wheels, high capacity air cleaner, hill descent control, Underbody shields, Z71 badge, Monotube Rancho Socks.

 

It's a little more than the past appearance package.

 

The 15's also have an off road screen on the display that shows the up/down and side to side angles of the vehicle.

Get the High Country, no sense in buying a truck with the crappiest shocks ever built for a Chevy.

And when did having good looking stock wheels become a priority, they are normally the first thing to be changed out.
