What HID kit for Silverado? Advice/input needed

Not very pleased with the light output on my 2014 Silverado. I want to convert to HID lights but after doing some research looks like need capacitors and resistors. I've seen some kits that say the capacitor is not needed or that it's "built in".

 

For those of you that have converted from the stock bulbs to HID's can you please chime in with your input and advice? What kit(s) would you recommend?

 

I searched for threads but didn't find anything too helpful, if theres a thread for this topic paste the link!

I had them on my 2004 Silverado. I did not care for them, On coming traffic was flashing high beams all the time. The HID bulbs did not last very long, brnt out. Went back to stock lighting.

Check out www.fastheadlights.com. They can do a complete retrofit for you. They did my lights, I had them add color changing halos. It's cheaper without it though.

i got some morimoto hids and love them. soooo much nicer and brighter than stock bulbs. also, make sure you aim your lights, especially if lifted or leveled. no one flashes me at all.

Jarom, I own the same truck as you (Denali HD 2015 black on black witht he D-Max engine) and I am trying to figure out where to find the ''changing halos'' on the fastheadlights.com website. Do I need something else than this kit if I want the ''changing halos'' ?: http://www.fastheadlights.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=fxr%5Fretrofit%2Dkit

 

Also, when referring to ''changing halos'' does this means that you can select the color of the halos yourself of they just change by themselves while they ''heat''?

 

I'm also confused about which type of DIode Dynamics LEDs for my fog lamps...

I currently have VLEDS HID kit, and now have a bulb not lighting up. With work being crazy, I haven't even had a chance to figure out what went bad yet. Checked all my connections, and see nothing wrong. I'm hoping tonight to swap the ballasts from one side to the other to see if it is a ballast, or bulb.

That is a totally different scenario. The 2015 HD has projectors which are really work best with HID's.

 

I recommend the Retro source. Not cheap but good service.

 

The Silverado has 4 bulbs - keep the high beams xenons like Silvertstars. I DO NOT recommend LED's. They aren't the best- HID is the way to go for brightness. I have xenons in(not HID) and they are a marginal improvement.

I have to say, my LED High beam and Fogs are brighter and provide more useable light then my HID headlights. It's been bugging me so much that I have LED for the Low beams on order. Then, all 3 will be same type, and "model" with the only exception being H11,9005 etc..

I've been researching this for a few weeks and trolling this and other forums and the consensus seems to be the Morimoto Sierra spec, if you want to spend the $$$.

Re. the projector housings, sounds like it's a lot of work (and cutting) for very little ROI.

Oh, for 2015 you need the 9012 headlights (one HID does both low/high beams) and if you're lifted, as others have said, re-aim.

I have LED's for lows, would you guy's say that HID's would be better light output ? 2015 Chevy Z71 with projector lamps. looking for the best . Any information will be helpful.
