Canadians - Where to Get Dexos Oil ?

Coming up on my first oil change out of 40,000km and will probably save myself the money and do it myself. I noticed my usual Motomaster Synthetic isn't ~Dexos~ approved, so does anyone know of a good outlet to buy the approved oil without paying an arm and a leg? I'd be fine with buying buckets of the stuff as I'm doing a lot of driving.

 

Side note, if anyone has had theirs changed at the dealer, how much are they asking?

My dealer here in Vancouver charged me for engine oil change (parts and labour) $64.95 + tax.

Hardly a reason to do it yourself.

Only downside is that you probably need an appointment.

Check with Chevy/GMC dealership website for specials or monthly coupons. Sometime you have to pay for an additional quarts but you can sometimes cut this cost.

Hmmmmm, here in Ontario oil changes are free for the first 2 years (up to four allowed) and any GM dealer in my area I've checked with have no appointment necessary "drive through" oil changes.

 

Aside from that, I would never change the oil myself while still under warranty, too much room for hassles if there are warranty claims down the road.

Standard on every GMC is the 2-Year Complimentary Lube-Oil-Filter Maintenance Program. It provides a complimentary lube-oil-filter maintenance service to the customer for the first 2 years or 40,000 kilometres of ownership. The coverage will be effective with the 2014 Model Year GMC vehicles. Owners are limited to four service LOF events during the 2-year or 40,000 kilometre timeframe, whichever comes first.⁸

Mobil 1 0W-20 is probably the least expensive Dexos1 aproved oil here in the states when purchased from Walmart but maybe it's not that good of price in Canada. I don't live in Canada but I always here about guys on the Bob is the oil guy forum talking about Canadaian Tire stores. They might be worth checking out vs Walmart.

Wouldnt Canadian Tire carry various oils? Or Walmart if you have it there. Also Various other parts stores. I completely agree with Chris Farley up there above me

The easiest is to find Mobil1 Synthetic; is it readily available in Canada?

Just checked the dealer and they're asking $54.99 +tx for Dexos synthetic. Not bad at all.

All GM dealers that I know of in Alberta are drive in oil changes! No appt. necessary! Ones here are all using Castrol oil!

Canadian tire sells it. Sometimes it is on sale too. Be warned: the 5.3L takes 8L of oil. Add a filter, and you'll probably come out ahead by going to the dealer. I think it ran me close to $90, but I didn't have time to bring it to the dealer for a free oil change.
