GM reducing warranty by 40k miles!

Just read that all 16 models will no longer carry the 5yr/100k warranty and will be instead replaced by a 60k warranty similar to Ford. I'm pretty confused...thoughts?

I don't think it'll matter much. The GM vehicles I've owned have been virtually trouble free WAY past 100K

Chrysler-Ram has a 100,000 mile warranty.

 

Ford and Toyota are both 5/60,000.

This sucks, I always thought it was pathetic of Ford to only give a 60000 mile warranty, now gm is doin it. Seems like a lack of confidence in a product to me. Change this back gm!

I believe it's 5yr/100k or whatever comes first ? Most are going to reach the 5 year well before the 100,000.

Most imports don't have a 100,000 powertrain warranty and they are renowned for their reliability and quality.

To me it's all about how much you trust your product and to me that is reflected in the warranty you offer, especially where they have had a 100k warranty, to then reduce it 40% indicates you don't trust your new product as much as your past product.

Not so long ago the warranties used to be 3 year/36000 miles. 5 year/60000 is still pretty good.
