Have to order my 6.2L '15 Sierra. Any tips/tricks, esp. on timing

I had multiple dealers do 1K mile searches and nothing comes up close to what I want to I'm going to order (6.2L Iridium Metallic CCSB A/T Sierra). I'm eligible for GM supplier pricing.

I have two main places I could use (and would appreciate) help/advice:

1) Has anybody had success in timing incentives? I can't find any historical incentive tracking online. I'd be ordering this week and if the truck comes 8-10 weeks out, I'd be looking at mid-May to beginning of June. The current incentives of $3K seem to be about as good as they've been since I've been watching. Any change between now and when I get my truck will basically come out of my pocket. Any advice on how to play the game? If the truck shows up in the middle of May and the incentives stink, can I delay with the dealer before showing up to take delivery to see how the June incentives are, and take advantage of those?

2) What deposits have folks put down on ordered trucks? One thought I had is to minimize the deposit I put down so that if the incentives stink when the truck arrives, I can walk away. The one dealer I spoke to thus far said it would likely take a "several thousand $ non-refundable" deposit to order a $50K truck. I haven't ordered a car for years but I think the last time I did (on a BMW) I only had to put down $500. What have folks put down for deposits on ordered trucks?

Any other tips/advice would be greatly welcome. Thanks.

Are you sure you can use incentives in conjunction with supplier pricing? If you haven't, I'd double check. You may be better off to work them down off invoice by whatever you can get and then take the incentives. Another tip--check the Farm Bureau incentive. Well worth joining. I live in Georgia--GA Farm Bureau doesn't participate, so I spent $50 to join Florida Farm Bureau. I just got back from the dealer--it worked, much to their surprise. Another tip--it's going to take 6-8 weeks for the truck to arrive. If there's an Auto Show in your area, there will be an additional $500 incentive for that. My truck stickered for $49,965--I paid $38,417 after rebates, incentives, and dickering that gave me a couple of more gray hairs.

Good luck!

I put down $1000 back when I ordered in mid January. It was non refundable, as they didn't a 2015 6.2 LTZ for their inventory for some reason.

I ordered with zero deposit. Don't sweat incentives as most of the time they just get better, order and roll the dice, supplier pricing is nothing special, if you feel like haggling you can get a better deal. I bought for a-plan plus rebates.

I think 8-10 weeks to delivery is very optimistic on getting a 6.2L in an All/Terrain (SLT). The last truck I ordered (3 years ago) the dealer did in good faith with no deposit, I'm sure it depends on your dealer and the market in the area where you live. My current truck I just bought in Feburary from inventory after an extensive search and dealer trades, I ended up buying a Denali almost solely because of the production restrictions on the 6.2 it was almost impossible to get a 6.2 in an SLT or A/T.

I ordered on 12/22/14 with no deposit. Got the truck on 2/28/15. It's a 6.2 A/T CC SLT. I'm eligible for supplier pricing via the credit union program. They could stack all the incentives on that program except my $2000 GM Card Topoff. They ended up coming down to invoice plus all the incentives and the GM Card topoff. When I ordered, I told them I was shooting for February because that's typically a good month for incentives. They actually hit the mark.

My truck was built 13 days after I ordered. I ordered a 5.3 Denali. Truck is in transit. It was built a week before my TPW. I think it will be at the dealership late this week, or next week.

I don't have a deposit on my order, dealer never asked.

Thanks to all. Looks like I should look around for a dealer who won't require a large deposit, and see if I can do better than supplier pricing. I'd be psyched if I could get the ordered truck as fast as some on here.

I didn't put down a deposit either. Dealer told me, "If you don't buy it, I won't have any trouble selling it. As others have said, you should be able to get a better deal than supplier pricing. In my experience, whatever the incentives are right now, they will either be the same or better in 10-12 weeks when the truck is delivered.
