you could also use tow mode to keep it from shifting so early. That should help a bit for now even during daily driving without being extra work.

I've played with tow/haul versus normal, it makes no difference in temps, and may make the trans run hotter because it causes shifts at higher RPM and causes the forced downshifts. At least that was my mileage...ymmv.

Yes they are and have been for 15 years on the 1/2 tons.
