Ez lower tailgate dropping fast

The replacement bushing part on the passenger side of the tailgate take a little "convincing" to push back in. Remove the old bushing, or what's left of it. Put the new bushing on the tailgate. Push like hell back down in. Take 3 minutes. DONE. If you wear skinny jeans and adore Clinton you probably can't do it.... No brackets or anything should be removed for this job. It's straight forward.

thanks. i didn't want to force and crack it, as it seemed to be a bit too large and not pliable enough to be forced in.

btw: no skinny jeans, despised clintons since '92, and i want the bushing to minimize the wife and kids' just dropping it:-)

I bought my 2015 sierra lastyear and im on my 3rd bushing. This is starting to be a pain in my a**. Thankfully it was covered under warranty but what happens when warranty is up!!! If this part is known to break alot then it should be a lifetime warranty part.

Come on gm, if my truck is a year old and went through 3 bushings then its not going to stop breaking. And I only use my tailgate a few times a month. CHEAP!!!!!!!!

They need to reinvent this part.

Add me to the list of bad bushings just broke # 2..

What makes me mad is my Father in law new 2018 Ford has a similar looking system now and the bushing in it is Stainless Steel.

I had mine in the dealer recently for this.  They didn't say anything about the bushing but ordered a new "dampener".  I don't have the work order handy to get the part number but once it comes in and they replace it we'll see how it does.

ADDED IN EDIT:

The part number is 23115812.  It's the part that mounts to the right side of the bed then the tailgate fits into it.  Everything seems to work much better now!
