So I just got a 2015 silverado with the 5.3 V8 in it.. I have 600 miles on it and have been noticing that whenever I give it a quick little tap of acceleration I hear this squeak noise. A quick little "squeak". I also notice it when I am coming to a stop and then hit the gas again theres this squeak. Also when I am turning and hit the gas I hear it. I do not think I am crazy, and it is not a very loud glass shattering squeak but it is there. Has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? Thanks!!

Hi Jeremy,

We apologize for this! Have you brought this to the dealership's attention? They will be in the best position to look into this further for you. Feel free to send us a private message, and we would be happy to communicate this concern their way.

Probably the flapper valve as rocknfire says. Even though I have the 6.2L, I have the same squeak, so I took mine into the dealer and their comment was 'some do it some don't' and the official reply on my service invoice was "no problem found road tested veh could not duplicate cust concern'. Even though I can hear it squeak whenever it goes from V4 to V8 every time. Dealer told me that if they get a fix for it, they will let me know, but as of now, there is nothing they can do. Hope GM addresses it soon though, I know it doesn't hurt anything, but just annoying on a nearly $60K truck.

I have a chirp, squeak when applying gas and slowing down, then applying again. like when I'm behind cars on a highway and slow to let them pass or if they break. Never happens from a complete stop. Seems to be more in lower speeds. Not above 50-60 mph.

I clamped mine also after getting the usual no problem found routine. Then I got an exhaust. Much better now.

Pay closer attention to when it does it. Mine does it when switching from 4 to 8 cylinder mode. Watch the indicator on your dash and my guess is that it does it when switching modes. Im thinking its the exhaust valve myself but I haven't tried to mess with it yet, maybe this weekend.

Oh yeah,, mine is a 2014 5.3

My 5.3L Sierra does this too. It happens every single time my engine goes from V4 to V8. It's very annoying and makes driving around the city very aggravating. I took it to the dealer and the service manager told me it's the exhaust flapper and to turn up the radio so I wouldn't hear it. He said that GM tried to fix it by replacing the exhaust system when the 2014's first came out but the replacement exhaust systems also had the same squeaking and chirping noise. My 2007 with active fuel management did not make this noise and I put over 150,000 miles on it.

I haven't looked at the valve very closely yet. Does anyone know exactly what part causes the squeak? Is it the spring rubbing on itself or the valve's shaft rubbing on the exhaust body? Seems something like a high temp grease as used on brakes would be an acceptable lubricant, however, there's must be something I am missing to not make it that easy if they are replacing exhaust systems or saying live with it.

I have contacted corporate about this. It is getting on my last nerve. I hate driving around the city or even on the highway and when I go to hit the gas it sounds like a piece of garbage car squeaking. It makes me feel like I'm driving something that is going to break. Squeak squeak squeak. No matter what they say, you should not have this loud of a noise no matter what sort of flapper valve there is in the exhaust.

With all due respect Patsy G, the dealers aren't helpful at all. I've already refunded my extended warranty because they won't fix anything on my truck unless it's on fire and shooting fireworks into the sky. I've paid out of pocket to fix things they wouldn't. Warranty means nothing.

Silverado 915, did clamping it help? louder exhaust system or replacement? I as well thought about getting a different exhaust system. I don't care about the warranty anymore. It's useless anyways.
