Oil Drain Plug

So the two year/ 24,000 mile service plan ran out on my 2014 Sierra 1500. It's time to change the oil again and i've always done changes myself on all of my vehicles. Does anyone know where the oil drain plug is on these things? I have an idea which one it is but I'd hate to drain something else by accident. I can't find anything online at all about these trucks. I'll probably catch some flack for asking but I've got to know. Thanks.

Thanks. That gives me a better idea of where to look. I was trying to find it just by crawling underneath it but that is proving to be pretty difficult. I'm probably going to have to use a jack. I didn't really notice just how low to the ground this truck actually is.

Just make sure you got the driveway covered. I have not changed one on these new trucks but you have 8 qts ready to shoot out. So keep the drain pan handy to catch what might fly out farther than you think.

Find the oil filter. The drain plug is right next to it. Both are just ahead of the swaybar and just behind the crossmember.

You have got to be FVCKING KIDDING ME! First off the stock Height of these trucks allow you to crawl under them 2wd or 4wd doesn't matter. You can change without a jack. And Two if you have done this before you should be able to find the damn oil drain plug! GEEZ!!!!! And i'm being conservative with you!

Wow! That's a little strong. He just asked a simple question and if you weren't going to help you shouldn't have replied.

AND, while you're there changing oil get a new Dorman O-ring oil plug. The stock plugs are a pretty poor excuse for a plug.

Do you know the thread size or the part number for the Dorman o-ring/magnet plug?

I just had my oil changed and noticed a slow drip from the drain plug afterwards. I had just switched to full synthetic oil for the first time. I took it back to the mechanic and he tried three different seals and couldn't get the drip to stop. He checked a mechanics blog/forum and found out that a lot of 2014's have to have their drain plugs replaced with a larger diameter plug because of this problem. That fixed the drip. Just an FYI if you notice anything.

I believe it's Dorman #090-091 and the thread size is M12-1.75
