XmSirius renewal deal

I got an email for the basic xmsirius for 6 months for $29.99 plus a few bucks for "fees". Ive never used it much before, but i will be in my truck quite a bit for extended periods of time this summer. There is no way in hell i'm giving them any of my credit info, so my questions is this; Can I pay with a disposable credit/debit card? Who has done it?

 

I don't want to deal with the hassle of calling 15 times in 6 months when it would be automatically renewed to cancel.

BTW, YES I SEARCHED. I'm thinking the search feature on this forum is laid out much differently than many of the other sites i frequent due to the lack of hits with multiple lists of keywords.

I received the same offer. I always put a reminder in my phone calendar for a week before expiration so I can call and cancel in order to avoid the auto renewal. I've never had an issue using that method.

I tried with a "disposable" credit card and for some reason it didn't work for them. Makes me think they can somehow tell, and won't use it. I went over the numbers a few times. The xm lady just said the heck with it, and sent me the bill and I mailed them a check.

I just did this. When you call them to signup tell them you want an invoice mailed to you instead of giving the credit card. It costs an additional $2.xx for the paper bill, but then they won't have your credit card to auto-charge in the future.

I just sent them a check for my wife's vehicle since we are driving from Texas to Florida this summer. I also have reminders in my phone to cancel one week before on my truck and her car.

Shiesty s-o-b's! I'll never actually sign up, just for the next 6 months. I guess i'll call them and tell them i want it billed to me.

This is what I do:

 

1. Tell them to send a paper bill.

2. Put a reminder on your calendar to call in 5 1/2 months.

3. When you call ask for the "Retention Department". When they answer tell them you are canceling service. They will offer you $25 for 6 months.

4. Go to Step 1.

 

It's a pain having to call every 5-6 months but I have gotten this deal every time I call for the last 2-3 years. I have 2 GM vehicles with the service and they give me the same deal on both (except you actually get a multi-radio discount on the second vehicle so that one ends up costing me about $21 for 6 months).

 

After I add in the multi-discount and the royalty fees it ends up costing me just under $5 per vehicle per month. I don't need XM at their full prices but for $5 I keep renewing ...

 

 

P.S. -- They keep records of the end date of your service. If you wait too long to cancel they will send you a bill for the days you went over. But if you call a few days before the deadline they will credit your account for the unused days when you renew!

Just to clarify for others that haven't done it before. When I do it, they usually offer something like 1 year for $120 or so at first. I have to decline at least their first 2 offers every time before they drop down to the $25 for 6 months type of deal.

 

They have my card on file (I've used XM for almost 9 years now). I just set a reminder on my calendar and call before the time is up. I didn't call in time once and had it automatically renewed for the 3 year deal again (which is what I had previously). Not too big of a deal because they refund your money when you cancel (refund the prorated amount).

Just get a new credit card after you sign up. Lose (cut up) your old one that sirius has the info on. How many people have you credit card info? It's not a big deal at all asking for a new credit card from who-ever issued it. They are a pain in the ass to deal with and an even bigger pain trying to cancel once they have your credit card info.

I havent paid full price for XM in over 4 years. I always get the 6 month deal renewed. I just have to call a week before it is supposed to renew and tell them I want to cancel. When they ask why. I say its to expensive at full price. Then they offer me the 6 month deal, and I say ok. I'll do 6 more months.

Paper invoice only! I don't use 'em anymore anyway. Didn't like the sound quality. It has a little less high end. Besides there are so many forms of data and music available. Three words...Kick Ass Torrents. Throw it on a SD card and rock out. Pandora works great also if you feel guilty about KATorrents.

while I do like xm, I won't be paying for 3 vehicles (same with onstar on my gm vehicles.) my gfs Acura MDX, my Caddy V and my 15 Sierra. I would probably be willing to pay for xm if it worked on all our cars but no way I would pay even 5$ a month for each of the 3 cars. xm reception is not very great either.

 

Pandora at 5$ a month we can use it for all the cars.

I agree about paying for multiple cars but I've had Siriusxm in North Dakota, Florida, and Texas as well as all the states between for traveling and never once had a reception issue.
