Window Shades Advice

Ok, newbie here with another question.

Has anyone installed the window shades on the new Silverado? I had them in my old Sierra and they really do serve their purpose well. I like being able to leave my windows down slightly in the sweltering heat without worrying about rain coming in.

My question is if you have, do you prefer the ones that install into the window track or stick on above the window? My old ones were in the track but these new windows seem pretty tight to install one that way.

I ordered a set that is low profile and look really good but did not realize when I ordered they were the stick on type. I have not installed them yet and was considering exchanging them but thought I would get some opinions one way or the other

I'd put my vote on the stick on ones. I had a set on my last truck and they were on there for basically the entire time (12 years). Never got un-stuck. I'm a frequent washer as well, if that would make any difference. I miss having them.

I've had both types. In channel deflectors have a cleaner look but low profile stick on deflectors are great also. It's a matter of personal preference IMO.

In channel visors IMO

By the way, try searching next time, you're thread may already have been created (and I know this has been asked before, about 2 months ago). Keeps the clutter down [emoji106]

Thanks for the tip. Did do a search and should have used "rain guards". For some reason the first search showed no results, just tried again and found the thread you referred to.

I have heard that the in track ones can cause the window to malfunction. The windows have a sensor that detects resistance and if so it will go back down thinking it's come in contact with someone's arm/hand etc.....I would keep the tape on ones.

Ended up installing the stick on's I ordered last night. They are the low profile AVS and look really good. Some of the ground effect pieces I installed on my wife's 97 Z28 when it was new are still holding today, so I know the stick on ones can stay in place.

Thanks for the input all.

Im not a big fan of the stick on ones. I would much rather hve the in channel version. But since I have heard they cause window malfunction...I have held off buying them.

Have had them for 6 months with zero issues

In channels all the way. they come down further along the mirrors and you never have to worry about them coming off and having that tape crap every where. I prefer the EGR brand.

My in channel ones cause the auto up feature to stop and go back down about once or twice a month, works good the rest of the time. It's not an issue if you just hold the button till the window is all the way up.

how long have you had them installed? That should stop after a while once everything finds a comfortable place to rest.

Had them installed since I bought the truck in January. It happens so little it doesn't bother me at all.

Have never had my weathertech in channels send the window back down. Just need to make sure they are being held in place snuggly that's all
