Last Thursday I finally found the GMC that I wanted.

A black Denali, 6.2 crew cab short box with black rims and interior. Sort of a truck version of my Corvette.

Yeh, I am starting to get the shakes every time the breeze picks up and starts blowing up the dust :crazy:

Only thing I would recommend is getting 20% factory tint on those front windows - just did mine for $75 in about an hr on my SLT and it looks light years better. What kind of tonneau cover is on there?

Yes, I should look into getting them tinted -is that something you can get from GM or is it aftermarket and where did you get yours?

The cover is the GMC factory soft folding. It opens up nice and easy and comes off just as easy if needed. I know it isn't a secure cover if someone wants to cut it to get in, but I figure if someone really wants to get into any cover it's not too tuff.

Yeah spending a lot of time parked in Philly I am targeting the BakFlip brand or something similar with a more "hard" cover.

 

I actually drove past a place on the way up to the dealer picking up the truck and asked for a quote based on the tint I had on my old enovy, guy told me to come back the next day and he would do it in 45 minutes. Like I said, $75 for both front windows and it just looks a lot sleeker with the black truck - also cuts down on the sun in your eyes significantly, and keeps the truck cooler. Dealers might do it, but it will cost more, and I would rather go to a place that specializes in tinting and does dozens of vehicles a week, for better quality work.

I did the TN legal tint which is 35% but the windows already have some tint to them anyway so I think it is more like 30%. First mod I did for my black truck!

Yes, there was a dealer in the area that had 4 black and a few other colors. This one was just about exactly how I would have ordered it.

It was the only one that had ever seen with the 22" black rims and all terrain tires -plus it was the only one with the 6.2.

I dont know that ive ever seen a gm dealer offer tinting services. The back oem glass us actually tinted glass and not a film. I had my front 2 tinted at a local tint shop with 3m brand 20% and it matches quite nicely. You may want to check state laws on allowed tint darknesses. My state is 32% but i opted for the 20%. Ive had 20 on all of my cars and never had an issue, but not sure how strict it is in NY tho. Btw, beautiful truck and vette!

      Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.

      That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.

After you factor in “out of warranty” service work and new car sales when these engines fail before their time, it’s a good racket for them. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!
