Tint Colour Match

Recommended Posts

It seems that the consensus is 20% window tint on the front windows is the closest match to the factory tint in the rear.

But what about the colour?

I have a 2015 Sierra with factory tint. when to my tint shop to get the front done and they put on Solarguard Galaxie at 20%. The tint matched but not the colour, the fronts look more green. Took it back and he put on HP Charcoal at 22%

Its even worse fronts look so green.

So im looking for anybody who has colour matched or close could you please let me know what brand and type of tint you had installed

Thx in advance!!!!

I went with suntek carbon 38% all the way around....so 38 over the factory rear tint. Went 38 bc I do not want to have to deal with finding someone to pass me on yearly inspections. Rear is noticeably darker but no difference in color just shade...and no worry come inspection day. I'm happy with the color of the tint, no off hues.

I know from tinting every single one of my cars and trucks that the color is usually just a bit off. No matter what product or tint %. Ive come to the conclusion that because the factory glass has the tint inside the actual glass and when you tint the front the tint goes on the inside of the glass. So in turn you see more of the color of the glass color (because glass has a color it isn't completely invisible- for example: look at a sheet of glass from the top or at the edge you see a blue or green color) So the glass is giving the tint just the tiniest bit of color to throw it off. Hope that makes sense. But the only way to get around it is to buy a vehicle that doesn't come with factory tint at all so you just have 5 clear windows.

I always go with 3M carbon, and request to match the back.

They always call it 20% on the receipt

Beware of cheap tint, it will change color or fade to clear over time.

Cheap tint usually starts changing to green or purple with time.

I want to say the 3m has a 10 or 15 year color sable warranty.

Cost more but to me worth it in the end.

suntek is good also, my buddy has been tinting for 25years, auto, home, boat, offices. He swears by suntek. my whole house is done in suntek silver film and I like it. I think its 10 or 15 year also.

the rears are smoked glass not tinted so with anything their will be a slight difference. mine matches perfect in color, you just notice a difference in the way the light hits it.

I have always had mine done by the same guy. He uses Suntek 20% to match and I have been happy with it every time.

as much as I think that 3m is generally not worth the money... on trucks/SUVs the only film that I have found to match the back perfectly in color/shade/darkness is 3m 20%

The 3m that I have on my truck has worked great, I would put it on all my vehicles.

Pinnacle on mine. 35% if I recall. They used a meter to measure the rears and they were pretty dark, like 15% if memory serves. The color of the pinnacle is a great match to stock tint.
