Also you can't really count the trade-in value because the price of the new truck will factor in as well.

 

If the dealership was straight up buying your truck, that's the real trade-in value.

Yea the dealership will rape you on a trade. The 6.2's are commanding a pretty high resale price in the private market though.But you have to factor in the savings on the taxes when you trade in. Sometimes it is a wash and easier to trade it in.

Here in Michigan we don't get any tax savings. They just flat bend you over.

I just traded my 2015 GMC SLT 4x4 Crew Texas Edition. I got $38,600 for it. I traded it in on a 2016 SLT 4x4 with a 6.2L, sunroof, and a load of options. MSRP on 2016 was $58+. I paid $46K.

I messed around with the idea. I went to two dealerships one offered me $32,000 the other offered me $31,000 on my 2014 LTZ CC with 35,000 miles on it. Could have made a lateral as far as payment goes but it would have extended my terms and I would have lost any equity I currently have in my truck. I was looking at trucks with $50,000 to $53,000 MSRP marked down 20% roughly $10,000 off. Great deals but just not worth it for me so I am motoring on in my 2014.

He's at about 30/31 on my Sierra all terrain sle crew, 15k, the 16 has a 20% tag on it which is very good, but still bringing my payment outta my comfort level, I'm gonna take one more shot Xmas week and if not I to will motor on in my 14

You need to realize that he said was a LEASE truck with all types of limitations on what you can do and how much you can drive, not a financed truck that you own in the are free to use as you please.

 

The trade in value is going to be different between the two.

My two previous frequent dealers have been emailing / calling a lot so for fun I asked a number on my 15 Z71 with Allstar pkg and 2k miles. MSRP was 43,xxx. Subaru offered me 29k, Honda offered 33k. Of course I passed, was just curious.

So for all you people that lease regularly or trade just for a lower payment but extended terms... do you just accept you are going to live life with a vehicle payment forever? I could not imagine having that attitude. I pay something off as quickly as possible and put the money towards something else.

Also I don't understand the mindset when someone who has had a vehicle for a couple years, trades in, takes on a new 60 mon+ payment; essentially extending their payment and thinks they've lowered their payment. Also the mindset that a vehicle expires at the end of their 3yr36K mi warranty. If you think your vehicle is going to go tits up at the expiration of your warranty, you need to buy something other than GM.

I didn't plan on trading in, but when I bought a year ago there weren't any left in white and wasn't available in summit white for 15 (all terrain crew) so I settled a bit, but now they brought white back and I can't seem to get it outta my head,

Probably hard to get a decent trade when local dealers are doing $13k off MSRP on 15's!
