Dash Problems!

2015 Silverado, purchased back in July and just rolled over 5,000 miles.

I just got back from a trip to Colorado for Thanksgiving. Temperatures got down to almost 0' F most nights. I noticed on my drive back to SE Kansas that there is a bubble in the smooth plastic section of my dash now (was not like this before the trip). There is now about a 3 inch visible gap from the drivers view where the smooth section of the dash (closest to the windshield) butts up against the foam padded portion of the dash. I'm assuming the differences in temperature caused the plastic to crease or wave. I'm also not sure what holds that part of the dash down (snap clips, tape, etc). I have not found any TSB's on the dashboards for this particular model of truck.

Taking the truck in to the dealer this week to have it looked at and hopefully fixed. I was hoping when I purchased this truck they would have had the dash's design/materials selection bullet proof with GM's history of dash issues. Has anyone else had any issues? I'll get pictures posted later and keep everyone updated.

Mine recently did the same thing as what you are describing. Waiting for first oil change to ask dealer about it. Interested to hear what you find out.

34,000km and spent all last winter in cold Canada and dash has no issues. Hope dealer will fix that one quick for you.

Assuming it happened somewhat recently with colder weather? I see you are in Idaho.

That is correct. Noticed it about a month ago which is also about when it started getting cold and I started using the heat/defrost. By the way only have about 4500 miles on it.

Not good to hear :( Take it in ASAP the GMT900 trucks have dash cracking issues. Mine didnt show up until I was out of warranty but there are quite a few out there.

Do you have a picture of this, its hard to picture what you are talking about?

Its because of the change in atmosphere combined with the cold, I can't explain why to be honest. Some buddies and I had the exact same thing happen to a Jeep Cherokee on a snowboarding trip to Breckenridge years back. We literally could watch the dash and door panels deform and grow bubbles as we rose in elevation. It stayed like that the whole week we were there. Afterwards when we returned to Indiana they went away within a week. I remember mini muffins and other pre packaged food we had swelling up as well, to the point that the plastic packages were on the verge of bursting.

I've got the same problem, going to get a new dash put in at the dealer tomorrow

Do you happen to know what components they are replacing and if it actually is a fix? Or are the parts all the same which would result in the problem occurring again further down the road?

Happened to mine but down here below sea level and certainly not in tempertaures below 50F yet. I bought the truck in April, 2015 Denali. I took it back to the dealer and they said they would just use a heat gun to work the panel back flat. I laughed really hard and said, no, no you're not, Amos. You're gonna replace that piece that reaches from speaker to speaker. They did. I watched. It just unclips from the dash frame using those same metal "wedge clips" that almost all your trim panels use. The placement of the tab that holds the clip under that piece where it warps at is the problem. It doesn't allow it to expand or contract across the entire surface. That area sees a lot of temp fluctuation from sun, defrost, you name it. Mine is actually starting to do it again.

Mine didn't happen until they installed my nav in the truck. I know it is a common problem, but mine wasn't like this until they pried it up.
