So while cleaning out the inside of my truck today, i found this. It was in the rear passenger side area, in the gap between the seat and the lower seat belt area. Anyone have any ideas what this is?

Ok well, the only bar it fits on is the center seatbelt upper bar (the one that sits up just above the back glass ), however it already has a 2 piece cover on it. If i take it off then this piece snaps on perfectly. I just cant make both pieces work together tho. Idk maybe its an adapter for moving the seatbelt up a few in inches to acommadate a car seat. Idk

There are two of them one behind the right back seat and one behind the left back seat. They are off center closer to the outer edges. They clip on the a u-shaped metal piece that is welded the the back of the cab. The seat backs have a flat bar that slide through the u the rubber piece snaps on top of the u. It keeps it from rattling. If you look over the top of the seat with a light you can see it its painted white. You can get you hand in there from the door side of seat it very tight. Mine would not snap on had to zip tie it on and will never come off again. I had to unblot the seat at the floor I think it was six nuts to remove and move the seat up off the bolts and out a pain in the ass to do but was the only way to get to it to put the zip ties on. You can see if you can get yours to snap on if it does watch it with a light while you try a fold up the seat thats what pushes it off. I looked at the one on the left side and it was all most off but will able to snap it back down and has not tried to come back off. There has been a post on this.

It covers the bar where the seat back retainer slides into I think . Let me get a picture if I can.

Edit: what southern_sierra said.

YOu will have to remove the seat where it is missing to get it back on I think. Note in addition to the 4 seat bolts there are two that hold the seats together in the center plate.

Thanks guys! This is just another example as to why i love this site! The people and everyones willingness to go above and beyond to help!

Thinking back, i am probably safe to assume that this piece was removed or came off when the dealer installed my katzkin leather.

I went and looked and see the location now. Tried contorting my hand to get it back on to no avail. I think ill wait until my first oil change and have the dealer reinstall under warranty since its not an immediate issue with rattling like others on the linked thread complained about. I Really dont want to pull the backseat loose if u can help it.

Another note... sure wouldve been nice if the rear back wouldve been designed to fold down. That way u could chose to lift the bottom for more floorspace OR lay the back down for a flat raised storage area

My old F150 crew had fold down backs. I think this configuration provides more room and you don't have to lift heavy stuff up onto the seat backs.

There was a gap between the seat and cabin rear that was covered by a plastic carpeted panel. I was always afraid I would crack it with some of the stuff I put on it.

When u say "this configuration provides more room... " which do u mean? The ford or gm? Sorry but the way it was written confuses me

I gotcha. I was thinking it would be cool to have both. Where u could lift the bottom up or lay the back down, but im not sure of the engineering required to do this
