Bedrug Installation

Hey guys - Looking to install a bedrug in my truck. Just the one that covers the bottom, not the sides. I collect and restore arcade games and pinball machines so the spray in liner makes things somewhat difficult and could hurt the sides of the machines. My question is - I understand that you need to drill holes int he bed for the Christmas tree fasteners to go into. Is there any down side to drilling holes in the bed? Any long term issues I could experience - especially if I remove the bedrug at any time? Also - for those that have installed, does it come with enough fasteners? Thanks!

I had a couple bedrugs, only one that I drilled holes for was if it had a drop in bedliner. You just drilled the holes in the plastic bedliner. The other with factory spray in liner came with velcro strips. Make sure you buy the right one, best to go to bedrug's site and get the part number.

I can't imagine the velcro sticking to the spray in liner - correct?

The adhesive stuck fine on my old Ram with a factory spray in liner, there was several long and wide strips. Not sure what the GM factory spray in looks like.

I did not have to drill any holes in order to install mine.

Mine is thick rubber / not a rug, and weighs about 30-40 lbs - stays put

Thanks for all of the help guys. I did find the right one after some research. The way it looks, I can get the bed floor liner, plus the piece for the tailgate and the cost is about $200. For the whole kit including sides of the bed and front of the bed, it's about $430. I just can't decide whether to go with the full bedrug or just the bottom pieces bedrug. Thoughts?

I've got the whole Bedrug liner and really like it. I tried just a mat and when stuff would move or inadvertently hit the sides, the bed or item hitting it would get scratched. With the whole Bedrug installed, the entire bed is protected and cargo is cushioned. Cargo stays put but is easy to slide in and out. And the Bedrug is easy on the knees. Considering what you're hauling, I'd recommend the whole Bedrug liner. I got my Bowtie version made by Bedrug from a GM dealer through eBay. Bedrug makes the GMC / Bowtie logo liners as well as Bedrug labeled models and they are the same.

I've got the bedrug branded as the gm. I like it. No drilling. Just beware NOTHING slides on it. If you are loading things you will not be sliding it in. I've moved quite a few heavy things. Is nice they don't slide but a pain to load.

+1 on this.

Just last week end I was out at Mt Charleston near Vegas checking out all the snow and at one point I stopped to take pictures, pull up on the side of the road/little parking area, go to the back, get my camera out of the backpack, shoot some pics, get back in the truck and drive 7-8 miles at ~40-45mph to the campground. Stop there to take more pics, but first backed up into a parking spot, only to get really confused as to why I was looking at my license plate in the rear view camera ...... and then it hit me! I left the tailgate open, with my camera backpack containing about $8k worth of lenses, open, on the tailgate (not to mention all the rest of the stuff that was in the bed at the time) well, it didn't move one bit! But I almost had a heart attack!!!

Search Amazon for the GM branded full Bedrug. I don't think mine was near that price. The GM branded one has a bow tie emblem under cab window.
