Real world MPG - 10 ply tire

It's the weight of the tires but as mentioned before winter blend of gas and the cold air. These trucks sucks the fuel in the winter I'm getting 15mpg with 275/70/18 duratracs and 2 inch level. Before the cold and winter blend was getting 20mpg

My Cooper Discoverer AT/3's are pretty heavy compared to stock. I think 20 lbs per tire more than the OEM goodyears. My speedo is recalibrated for the larger size (LT285/55r20), but right Now I manage around 15-16 per tank. In the summer i usually can get 17-18. Which usually includes about 1/2 highway, 1/2 city. The city driving really sucks the mileage.

 

On my "last 25 miles" and "last 50 Miles" screens i've seen around 20 mpg tho, after stints of highway driving.

Lucky! I'm getting 13-14 with the same size but ko2s.. Only 1 mpg difference but still counts lol

Stock height, P255/70R17 General HTS, and 87 octane=21.5MPG average

Level, BL, LT285/75R17 G2's, front valance removed and switch to E85=13.5MPG average

Don't love the mileage but could've kept my car getting 38mpg if that was my only concern.

To follow up- I'm literally having bilstein leveling shocks installed all 4 corners + ready lift 2.25" rear block kit (+1" over stock) and removing the lower chin spoiler tomorrow- and I'm running Michelin snow tires 275/55r20 - I'm guessing weigh close to stock...as I mentioned I think the wheels are lighter than stock, should be a good test to see how much mpg is lost to level vs heavy tires

I would speculate that the leveled guys probably get an additional FE penalty in the winter with the cold dense air.

If it's winter time to that kill mpg when I swapped my 33s on i took a little hit now that it's winter and I let the truck warm up and it's actually cold - 25 to 30 lately it has suffered but I figure once it gets warm again ill be doing alright im also leveled 2.5.

Winter blend fuel only contains 1.7% less energy than summer gas. Cold air makes more power but your engine loses a little efficiency if it's really cold out, it gets wasted keeping the engine block hot.

 

These trucks run like butt until they get up to operating temperature, that's where the fuel loss is. Short trips and cold temps will make your mileage go way down. Letting your truck warm up and spinning around in the snow doesn't help either.

 

On my 2015 6.2 3.42 with 33" BFG K02's and RC level, I would get 21 mpg on 2 hour highway trips. But around town it's not even close. Lifetime average the truck was in the 17's. Not bad, really.

Level kit did nothing to effect my milage.

I left the factory tires on for a couple weeks just to see.

 

Tires dropped 2 mpg, there not 10ply. I went with 4 ply to save on weight.

After 18,000 miles my mpg increase 1.5 to 2 so it evened out.

 

Since gas is under $2 a gallon, I don't care what I get for millage and stopped paying much attention.

To make up for the lost power I added a Blower and my mpg dropped to 11-12 city/hwy. I then bought an Auto Cal from BBP and had a custom tune made and now I'm averaging 13-14 city and when I get on the highway I've seen it get up to 16.8

I think over a lapse of 6k miles my avg is 17.1 with 33x12.50x20s on a 2" level with a 5.3 and 3.08 gears.
