Rear facing LED lighting.....*may be controversial*

Thinking about mounting other light bar to the swing case. If you absolutely need a rear facing led, you can even direct the beam. Thoughts of installing it here?

How do you like that swing case?

Where did you get those switches? I'm interested in any more pics you have to. That being said I have almost the exact same lights mounted in the same spot. Mine were from Eyourlife on amazon, I think around $25 shipped. I use for backing at night, cheap and effective. I supposed I could flash them if I wanted to for the same reason as the op stated.

They are a Gm part. Bought from the dealership. $50

Hey those switches look really good, I love the oem look to it. What kind of truck do you have and does it have power adjust pedals? Also how hard was install?

I have a 2014 chevy 1500 lt. Cloth. No adjustable pedals. Only have two switched before cargo lamp and traction control. The switch panel is for a work model. And I was fairly easy. Some guys found the wires to install them so it looks oem behind the dash. But I just soldered the wires to the board. Not ideal but functional. post-137629-145525028154_thumb.jpgpost-137629-145525029417_thumb.jpg

I love it. Haven't really put anything in it yet, a tarp and my black Chevy emblems. But want to get jumper cables and maybe a flash light and MRE's or something.

I was actually considering something similar for a different purpose and decided I want the light bar set up near the cab on top of the bed. I want to have a big bright light that me or my wife won't have to hold so we or singly we can load the boat or do anything to the boat at night

I wouldn't do this for fear of getting my head blown off by some lunatic. I won't be leaving this earth because a road rage situation.

I don't have that fear because anyone who tried would get an unpleasant surprise. Always keep your head and your gear on a swivel.

I do want to clear a few things up.

First, I never mentioned tail gaters. So for everyone saying tap your brake lights at them (which could also result in the horrific "what ifs" others have spouted), or let them pass. I'm in a truck, if they are tail gating me I can't see their headlights. I'm talking about cars that are farther back, safe following distance but WAY too close for high beams. The angle of the beam puts it right into the cab and even with tinted glass and dimming mirrors it blinds me on a road that is 100% not lit.

Second, I'm not talking about strobing them or flashing repeatedly. A single quick flash is plenty. I have tried the cargo light, many times over the years (this truck & my last one), not once has it ever worked. The comment on laser pointers was moronic, however it did make me think that a spot pattern would be too focused, so a flood is a better choice.

Yeah I know its not legal, but how many of us have modified our trucks? Here in CA just about anything outside of OEM is illegal. Ok, flame suit back on....

What kind of grommets are those and where did you get them?

This is the best switch location I've seen! And I've been looking for a while. THANK YOU!

I made the grommets myself out of old steel tubing I had. I measured the angle that the lights needed to be and cut them to that angle.

Thanks, and you're welcome.

Pretty sure it is. In those models it comes in. It adds relays into the passenger side fuse box. But the other models the positions don't have the wires.

I've seen other threads where someone has figured out which wire terminal at the BCM to jumper with a diode or something to have their fog lights on with high beams. Surely there must be someone out there with the smarts to figure out how to make the back of cab light work in a forward gear. That way, it's still an oem light that you can't get in trouble for having, and you can flash it on and off with a factory switch

You can take those small low volt circular leds. Aim them down, behind your bumper. So when You flip them on and off only your under your truck will light Up. Hopefully they'll get The point! .
