Random Collision Avoidance Issue

Yesterday morning on my way home from work, my 2015 Silverado's CA system gave me the heads-up warning and disengaged my cruise, when NO ONE was in front of me for over 4 miles. It has done this before, at random times of day, random operating times, and random locations. There has been no dirt on any of the sensors.

Anyone else?

Mine does this occasionally, I noticed that a few things cause it.

-The sun in broken up clouds, Sometimes transitioning shadows from clouds or other objects to sunlight cause it to go off.

-Highway/Road paint, such as "Stop" or highway markings painted on the ground. This doesn't always occur, but on occasion in the right conditions it can.

I had this happen the other day but I believe it was caused by those flimsy 3-4' tall lane dividers. There's an on ramp out of a small community onto the freeway with these markers, I was in the lane closest to them and I think the angle that I passed was enough to set off the CA system. Definitely surprised me.

Mine does it too, but the only times it gives a false alarm is due to transitioning from light to dark (heading under a dark bridge on a sunny day), catching the sun off of something highly reflective, etc. In all cases it's been related to light.

Its described in the manual too. For 2014 Sierra's its section 9-67 and says"

"Unnecessary Alerts
FCA may provide unnecessary
alerts for turning vehicles, vehicles
in other lanes, objects that are not
vehicles, or shadows. These alerts
are normal operation and the
vehicle does not need service."

Aka we are still working out the kinks!

I didn't know that it would turn off the cruise control. That's pretty cool.

Mine doesn't seem sensitive enough even on the highest setting.

"Highest setting?" Didn't know that you can adjust them.

My most recent "false alarm" was the morning before I posted this thread. Sun was behind & right of me, and was still coming up, hadn't broke the horizon, yet. No lane divider posts, two-lane/undivided. No cars on the side of the road, only oncoming traffic (those going to work).

My steering wheel has a button that will adjust the alert distance

Mine does it when I transition under an overpass in the morning when then sun is coming up. Shadows. I shut it off - too annoying.

Did it again, couple weekends ago. I was pulling a maxed out 6x12 U-haul trailer, driving south on CA SR-395 and one of the steep rolling hills triggered it, just north of Adelanto, around 11am. Freaked my wife and kids out, no one was in front of us for almost a mile.

Mine does this too. Especially when driving into the sun.
