Thinking about one of these

Who has one? How does it compare to the last gen in your opinion if you had both. I had a 14 mustang 5.0 headers, no cats, tune, intake, MT, lowered, etc.. but just never was that in love with it, handling and comfort just wasn't really there so I got rid of it. The one i am thinking about is below. 2SS with 8 speed Auto. Pic of the stang for reference. Car would be strictly for pleasure.

My old boss has one of the new Camaro's, came from a 2013 Camaro. While I haven't driven it first hand, he says he absolutely loves the new one.

The Mustang has always been lacking IMO. Interior is way overdue for an update, they handle like crap as you said, and I have heard a lot of people complain about comfort, especially after more than an hour driving. If it was me, I would get a Camaro just to get back into a GM!

I know quite a few people who have a new one. They all love it. Interior is a huge improvement. The only real complaint between the 5th and 6th gen is the new model is smaller. For me needing a backseat doesnt really work. It also isnt enough to make me want to trade my old one in. Personally I would rather have a 14-15 Z/28 as a track car. We will see what additional models come out in the coming years but next up for me will be a new truck most likely.

Oh and dont get a blue one. They are a dime a dozen here. Seems like everyone is getting that color. Havent seen many silver, it looks nice.

Thanks for the responses. I have been doing some reading over at Comarro6 and from what I am reading over there it seems to be what I am looking for. Comfort is a big thing for me as I do a good bit of long hauls due to work. An 8 hr ride in the mustang with not the best weather conditions is what made me sell it, it was very tiring and just did not feel safe. I have actually looked at the z28's, the local dealership has 2 still in stock, the comfort thing is what steered me away from those. I don't think I will be making a decision in the near future so I just wanted to get all of the feedback I can before making a decision. I will more than likely hold off till the new ZL1 gets out to give it a look also.

My 5th gen is really comfortable on long rides. Been on a few 4-6 hour trips and never had comfort issues. For reference I am 6ft 3" 220lbs

My son has a 2015 2SS coupe, nasty car. Read in a car mag about a year ago, the Camaro handled better on a road course but the mustang had better interior ergonomics. Also read in the Feb 2016 edition of Car and Driver the mustang compared with a 'Vette, the book cover says the Mustang may be Americas newest “sports car” (the horsepower in these things transcends the classic "muscle" moniker). Don’t know about the visibility in the mustang, but it has to be better with the rear side vent than the Camaro Coupe. That 2SS with upgraded intake and exhaust is one fun car, love it, first time I really got on the manual paddle shifters with a vehicle that reminded me of the 60's on the floor muscle. But unlike Ryan, at 5' 9" 225 and a former daily weight lifter, 2 hrs is probably as far as I could drive in that car.

The new Camaro would destroy the M3.

I would like to drive the two back to back. Its not always about numbers on paper. That's why the E30 M3's are bringing stupid money.

For a well optioned M3 / M4 you would be in CTS V territory and I would much rather the Caddy. I would be wifeless though and the kids would more than likely starve so for 1/2 the price I will stick with the SS. Motor trend will be doing a head to head here before long and I would almost bet the SS edges out the win. There is a lot of talk about it on the BMW forums and they are already making up excuses.

The E30 brings tons of money because of internet hype.

I've watched friends, neighbors, and relatives go thru the various BMW line. I would not have hardship with the sticker, but the reliability and maintenance/parts seem out of whack as they get a bit older. If only owned for a few years, they seem fine. A BMW is a fine car, but a Camaro is a different type of car. A Camaro is more T-shirt, tennis shoes & blue jeans raw American muscle, not a snooty driving gloves, twills and loafers refined driving experience.

Never driven an E30 M3, but had an e30 325is I built up and they were very pure cars. It's my favorite car I have owned. Simple to work on, extremely well engineered( you start taking any part of the car apart, and it makes so much sense you rarely need any guide for help, and it was the first car I really worked on), reliable, , tossable and very forgiving when driven past capability. BMWs today have gone a separate path.

My current boss has a newer BMW X5, and it is a total piece of shit. I have been working for this guy for 6 months. In that time, it has had a new transmission, passenger front brake caliper, passenger front window motor/regulator, battery, 2 sensors, and now a coolant leak that started last week.

I know the X5 is not a sports car, but it is a high performance SUV nonetheless. I really don't know where all the hype for BMW's comes from? They are a crappy vehicle, IMO.

    • If we actually used any significant amount of that source in the USA then I'd agree but we don't. We've had that discussion before. We drill and pump more than we use. Thing is, we sell. We export. Gas and Crude. It's more profitable so any shortage here is self inflicted and LEGAL.    I worked a gas plant that has multiple fuel sources available and I worked in the furnace and boiler plant in that facility. I'd had days we swapped fuel types four times in a twelve hour shift which isn't done on supply but on margin. Two of the fuel sources are internally generated. Tail gas and DAK, both of which are sold as well a consumed. We always had more than we needed to run the process but we chose the fuel that produced the best margin not bought at the cheapest price always. A good bit of math to that and back in the time that was done on a slide rule.     I worked the Shale Oil Semiworks of Chevron Research and CONOCO Research in Salt Lake City. That process never went into production although it was very successful. Why? Did we lack oil bearing shale? Nope. Price of crude never made the margins work. That was in the late 70's early 80's. Remember history? What was happening then was a reaction to that situation. It didn't drive it. If so then it's easy. This isn't a supply and demand thing. This is a profit and margin thing and AI rules that now.    In no refining situation that I was ever in would a bomb hitting a well anywhere in the world 'instantly' interrupt or even distress the supply. Most plants have more than a months worth of crude in the tank field and more in pumping stations. That yo-yo could play out over days, weeks and maybe months and have zero impact on plant operations. How many times has this been off and on in the last few months? These people and not stupid. These plants measure down time in hundreds of thousands of dollars per day. They are not sucking fumes or waiting on the next truckload with baited breath. Besides, as I noted, they are for the most part 'vertically integrated'. They own it from the dirt is sits in to the delivery rack and sometimes to the pump. It has a HUGE shock absorber built in. When production suffers, refining wins and when refining is winning exploration is killing. The rest of that crap in the news is a 'news cycle'. Government dipping in to reserves? Oil is stealing their milk money. There's a reason Chevron abandon Venezuela infrastructure and it had nothing to do with security of US citizens. Nationals run those plants. it has to do with MARGINS disappearing to corruption. They are in no hurry to return. Is there supply there? Oh yea. More than enough to offset what is bought in the middle east. Just isn't ???? Profitable.    We have supply. There are places in Illinois you can drive a pipe into the ground and run your homes natural gas furnace on it.    A refinery fire will gum up the supply works but not a localized war where the market is using a limited supply from. Now Europe, that's something other....
    • $4.00 a gallon here now.   Diesel nearly $5.00 again.
    • If we're talking futures, yes, it's speculation.   The spot price of a delivered barrel is elevated now compared to before the conflict. And that is related more to current supply/demand.
    • SPECULATION on the wars effect raised prices. AI is maximizing the profit. Refining is vertically integrated.
    • It's the Middle East conflict that raised prices, not AI. But nice distraction.
