Another TPMS question

I have a 2015 GMC SLT 1500 that I will be completely removing the 20" wheels & tires with TPMS, and swapping them out with another complete set of 2015 GM 22" wheels and tires from another truck with the TPMS sensors still inside.

My question is this..... Is this going to be a simple relearn process like a tire rotation or will something have to be programmed into the ECM or BCM or etc. ?

My tire size is 275/55-20 and the new tires are 285/45-22. It looks like from what I've researched so far that the speedometer should be fine. Am I correct on this or ?

Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Just a relearn. I have 2 sets of tires/rims and I just put it learn mode and walk around with tool to relearn when I change tire sets.

You can do it yourself it's pretty easy. Put your truck in relearn mode, starting with LF reduce the air pressure continuously until your horn honks once and proceed to the RF then RR finish with the LR after your horn honks once it honk twice to confirm it's been completed.

This process doesn't work anymore on 2013 and newer Silverado's, you have to use a relearn tool.

Do an eBay search for TPMS Relearn tool. Runs usually around $20. My 2011 has to have the tool, also.

Looked this up and it's just a magnet. Really? Does it work?

OK , I bought the TPMS relearn tool. I bought the BOSCH EL-50448. Its the orange tool. It also says OEC-T5 on it. Anyways I did the wheel swap on my 2015 GMC SLT 1500. I went into the relearn setting in my screen on the dash, the horn blows 2 times, the left front turn signal lights up, I go to the left front wheel & press the button on the tool and hold it up against the sidewall by the valve stem but, nothing happens after that. ??????

Now, my first instinct is that the sensors are not inside the wheels ???? But, if that were the case then why am I not getting some sort of message on my dash or why isn't the low tire pressure warning light on the dash ?

I have driven the truck about 4 or 5 miles since swapping the wheels and no lights have come on the dash or anything. The screen on the truck for the TPMS says that the tires have about 30 to 31 lbs of air when my tire gauge shows about 35 lbs.

What am I missing ?

When I do the relearn on my truck, I have better luck holding the tool by the side wall near the valve stem. Sometimes I have to move it around while holding the button to get it to work. I also know the relearn tool I have is sensitive to having a good 9v batt.

I have figured out that there are no TPMS sensors in the wheels. The guy I bought them from said that they were still in there but, I don't believe they are. When I put my original wheels up beside the truck the horn beeps and when I go around the truck it beeps at every wheel with 2 beeps at the end. After driving the truck about 20 miles the light came on for the TPMS telling me that it needs service. So, I ordered new sensors and will have them installed when they arrive.

Yes it will on the 2013 model year. 2014-newer you can can go through your setting using the controls on your steering wheel. Once The air pressures appear hold down the enter button until the horn honks, proceed to reduce air pressure starting left front the horn when I honk once as it is relearn. Proceed with the right front and right rear finishing with the left rear the horn with honk twice to confirm relearn is completed
