Oil pressure (Is this normal?)

I did some searching but couldn't find if it specifically answered what I was looking for.

I've noticed recently (not sure if this is new or not) that my oil pressure is sitting at 20-25 on the gauge during idle and unless I'm on cruise control then it can barely stay at or above 40.

Just want to make sure I shouldn't be worried too much.

Thanks

Read somewhere that the new engines has a variable speed or 2 speed oil pump (dont remember which one). I had noticed mine had what I thought was lower oil pressure than it should have.

Don't worry about it, its normal.

Keep in mind the crap they call oil in these trucks has the consistency of water when it's at normal operating temp.... So with that in mind considering pressure is a result of viscosity through a restriction I wouldn't worry about it. The lighter the fluid the pump pushes and the easier it is to push the less pressure is a result.

Yes they have a variable pressure relief as well and won't allow much more than 40 psi until above a certain rpm threshold.
