4x4 cold update

Went into dealer yesterday and had the oil changed. I was notified of the update for the issue of the 4x4 not engaging when cold or something along those lines....My question is, I had my 15 denali tuned by Black Bear. Will this being done at the dealer effect my tune in any way? I haven't had any issues with the 4x4, that I know of. I don't however want to have anything effect my spectacular Black Bear tune...

The update is a programming issue. To fix it, they reprogram some part of the system. I do not know if it will affect a tune though. I know I had a Diablo program in my 2006 3/4 ton and took it in for a tune up. They updated my computer and it screwed up the truck. My transmission started shifting crazy and I lost my tune from Diablo.

Had my Black bear tune in while they did this update. No issues at all.

Go ahead and have it done, it wont do a thing to your BB tune. They are only reprogramming the TCCM (transfer case control module) which is separate from the ECM and TCM that BB tune.

Thanks for the tips guy. I just wanted to make sure or get a general consensus. I emailed black bear yesterday but haven't heard back yet. I didn't buy the module when I had the tune done, so worst case I could just order and reschedule having it done.

On a side note...Ive also been noticing my truck when being cranked after being sitting for a while, seems really hard to turn over at times. It seems like it really takes a good 4-5 seconds before it cranks. Is this normal? My previous to silverados have never had this issue.

The update does not effect your ECM or TCM tunes. YOu will be fine. I like like having the AutoCal device so I can return to stock tuning very easily if need be. But you should be fine.

This is a characteristic of Direct Injection. It helps if you prime the starter by turning the key to the start position. Just put your key in, and turn to the furthest position without actually cranking. You'll hear a "whirring" sound from under the truck. Once the "whirring" sound goes away. Crank over and it should fire up without issue.

GM info on extended crank time for DI engines.
