SIERRA SPEC: MORIMOTO ELITE HID SYSTEM

Hey guys, hoping a few of you can chime in on this.

I've been driving cars equipped with HID's for the last 10 years and needless to say, my 15 Sierra light output just doesn't cut it.

I don't mind spending the extra coin on a superior HID system but the temp and wattage have me confused on which to get.

I want either a pure white or just a hint of blue and I was thinking a 5500K temp would be perfect, but not sure on the wattage, thoughts?

35w would be plenty for stock housing even tho some guys are running 55w. I have the retrofitsource 35w 4300k and its night and day difference over stock halogen.

5500k here. For me, the lights don't extend farther than stock bulbs do, but the area it lights up and the different color of light makes everything pop. The biggest difference in my set up is my Rigid Ind DOT cubes. A massive jump in light output with those.

I'm really on the fence to go with the Morimoto HID kit or just splurge for the RX350 retrofit kit from Fastheadlights. Ugh

You could always do the 16 sierra sle oem HID conversion.

not trying to thread jack but could you explain more about the 16 gmc sierra HID conversion!? i lik e factory oem reliability is this a plug and play what exactly do you need to buy

I have the morimoto sierra spec kit from the retrofit source and I couldn't be happier. I've had the cheaper kits before and it seemed like I was constantly having to return ballast for warranty and always had issues. 2 years strong and 2 trucks on the sierra spec kit an no issues what so ever. Save yourself the headache. Also I'd go with the 35w ballast and 5500k bulbs, mine are bright white with a light light hint of blue, and bright as shit. The 55w aren't any brighter, they'll just melt your housing

I just installed the TRS Silverado Spec kit and could not be any happier. I went with the 55W 6500K kit and the light is super bright and white.

These kits are well built and the light output is worth the money of the kit. A guy I work with bought a kit after seeing my truck lights at night.

35w 5500k for me from TRS as well. Been running them for almost a year on my SLE and no problems yet. Also running the morimoto fogs. To my eyes I see pure white but I guess to others they might see some blue.

Are your HID also the DRL? I would like to upgrade, but I'm also concerned about them running whenever the truck is running. I know an option is to turn off the switch every time I get in the truck or I could remove the spring from the switch. But considering I'm military and do deploy, I can't rely on my wife to remember to turn it off..lol..

Not to hijack the thread but was wondering how you guys wired the TRS Sierra Spec kit to he battery? Did you just wire to the clamp screws for each terminal? Any other methods? Thanks in advance!

Yeah man mine is a sle and the daytime running lights are the headlights unfortunately, it's like second nature to me now to twist the switch anytime I get in it lol
