I probably won't put any on this truck, I like how it looks without them, plus I don't have to worry about them eventually rotting off. Hahaha!

More repairs today. My passenger side window on the master switch was crunchy and my drivers window auto down never really worked without really mashing on it. So today was the day I decided to tear it apart. I found the down plastic piece on the passenger side was broken and I saw how the auto down works. So I jb welded the the broken piece for the passenger side and for the AD on the drivers side, I shaved a piece of plastic I had laying around and glued it in place. Now everything works 100% and I just have to bearly tap for auto down.

Had to clean the sides up abit so it would move freely.

Boy do I have a lot of questions for you. As soon as this PITA headache goes away. Just came across your thread. I have an 06 Avalanche, Regency conversion. If you don't mind, I can post a pic?

Been lurking on the forums for a few weeks, but seeing this thread pushed me to join.

Love the Avy. I really miss my last 2 - I had an '04 Z71 that was Silver Burch, and a '13 that was Black. I always believed that they weren't trucks, or SUV's - they are "TUV's" (The Ultimate Vehicle).

Very nice.

GM used a lot of hard plastics in the 1st gen Avy's.

Does yours have the ISS rattle (Intermediate Steering Shaft)? It's not dangerous or anything, but it can be unnerving if you don't know what it is. Scared the poo out of my dad first time I let him drive the '04. He still ended up buying an "06 soon after. Great vehicles.

Easy fix, too.

I do believe I had that rattle. My friend once packed the hell outta it with grease and it went away for about a year but it might need replacing. I think I'm more of broken clips, broken guides, leather on leather. Door panel rattles. Center console rattle. Those are some things I "think" I hear.

Sure Keagan post up buddy and ask all the questions ya want. Mine has some rattles too. A lot of it is in the rear door panels and the Midgate. Volume knob fixes that haha.

Welcome darkrider.

And yeah the steering shaft is a common issue with the gmt800's

I forgot to take pics but I replaced my steering shaft about a year ago with GM's updated version. It's not too difficult to replace but if it's rusty where the shaft connects to the box shaft under the hood it can be a bitch to get it disconnected.... atleast that's how mine was. Wd40 and 20mins and it slid right out.

Felt like a new truck after it was replaced.

And just hit 221k today

I thought I had more photos on my phone but when I get on the computer I'll add more, hopefully better quality. It is a 2006 Avalanche z66 Regency Conversion, leather, Norcal 3" drop rear, flow master super 40, pioneer nex4100, SMD gauges, 2 Rockford 10", Rockford amp, Polk speakers, zapco amp for door speakers, showdown and secondskin sound deadener in door panels and floors. Belltech street performance shocks, airaid intake and TB spacer. DDM HID kit. Morimoto fogs.

Just over 90k yesterday.

I need to do the intermediate shaft

Evap solenoid

Weatherstrips

Door hinges

Steering wheel lights

LED's for HVAC controls.

Where did you source each of them? Thanks!

    • Thanks, all. It sounds like keeping the software "as is" is the best course of action.
    • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overengineering   Excerpt from the above link: (BTW the above is a 90 second read)   [Quote]   A story about very precise engineering is given in the 1858 story The Deacon's Masterpiece or, the Wonderful "One-hoss Shay": A Logical Story by Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., which tells of a carriage (one-horse shay) Because it had been engineered so that no single piece failed first – no piece was over-engineered relative to the others, and they thus all collapsed at the same time. A similar quote by Ferdinand Porsche claimed "the perfect race car crosses the finish line in first place and immediately falls into pieces."[5]   [End Quote}   By Engineering's  own definition then; the AFM and Torque Converters, 4-5-6 clutch assembly of the 6L80E, and a dozen other common chronic parts and systems failures are "UNDER ENGINEERED". And by their own definition done so with INTENT. Ya can't have it both ways OEM's.

    • I was in Utah this week attempting a bow hunt in the Wasatch mountains with friends.  On the evening of the first hunt, making my way across a ridge to a friends camp, the upper control arm on the driver's side separated, the CV axle got trashed, and the wheel was dang near at a 45 degree angle to the ground.  I was able to get it towed off the mountain and into town about 3:00 am, and spent the remainder of the night in an O'Reilly's parking lot.  Luckily, there was a Chevrolet dealership not to far away so I was able to get to the dealership and pick up a new CV and UCA.  It would have been a few days before they could have gotten to the truck and I brought tools with me on hunt since it was a two day drive to get there, so I did the repairs myself in the O'Reilly's parking lot.      What's interesting is that the UCA ball joint didn't break, it just popped out of the bottom of the UCA.  There was VERY LITTLE evidence of grease on the ball joint or in the socket, and you could see where the ball joint had warbled out part of the socket over time.  I guess that's what happens over 186K miles of use :)   Big Kudos to O'Reilly's for letting me work on the truck in their parking lot.  However, they made a $150+ off of me from the purchase of various tools, so I guess it was in their best interest anyways :)   Getting towed off the mountain.   UCA Ball Joint Socket   Trashed CV   Suspension disconnected and UCA and CV Removed   New UCA and CV installed with the suspension buttoned up.
    • My family still laughs at me when they see me drive up in the minivan. Same with less than a V-8 truck. It helps that I have choices. I don’t think I could only have a minivan as the one and only vehicle as much as I like it. And I wouldn’t pass up a good buy on an older V-8 reg cab GM truck. Could you live Raven as the only ride?
