2016 Silverado standard HID vs LED headlights

The Phillips 921 are not bright and not worth the upgrade IMO! They use 2 small LED's then reflect the light on to a cone, I tried them they are just whiter than OEM, offer very little output, esp... since our rear reverse reflectors are not optimized for them. Not trying to start a war here everyone's got their own flavor, but I put my Phillips back in the box money wasted vs the ones below.

Below is a huge improvement over the Phillips 921s

I used these for my reverse lights. JDM ASTAR (these really make a statement, HEY I AM BACKING UP!!!)

I used these for my 3rd brake and cargo lamps, JDM ASTAR (these are a bit softer than the above but really light up the cargo area, even with inbed LED's)

Not related to Phillips 921 - License plate LED, and they fit nice. 2x are needed.

last bit, no warning lights come on in the cluster, although during install if you need to flip them you might get an OnStar monthly email showing they were out once.

I believe the JDMs are brighter than Philips just surprised to hear that you thought Philips were not brighter than stock.

Agreed; they put out more than enough lumens for me backing up, rearview cam is crystal clear at night in the pitch black. They also match my LEDs.

I looked into the JDMs before, I just didn't want to blind any drivers and I preferred to have a directional LED (Philips has a projector/reflector) for reversing instead of the light just being scattered (JDM has none)...

And if I was going to upgrade to brighter than these Philips, I'd probably go with the Diode Dynamics XP80. Little pricey, but...(16) 5W rated LED chips, (4) of which are under the projector lense. It has 4 sides instead of just 2. Also a 3 year warranty instead of a 1 year.

All are great and adequate for backing up.

$90 + $5 shipping dollars for 2 XP90 leds 921's eek!

Chevy and GMC tail lamps are different, I got to remember this when we discuses this stuff. the Phillips 921's offer very little additional light over stock b/c of the GMC reflectors, for the same $20-30 dollars spent on JDM's, Phillips were just whiter IMO, I tried them as seen in the pic.

ok just went and looked to confirm on my GMC taillights, the reflector is only North/South, on the East/West its matte silver finish, this is why the Phillips didn't offer as much output.

lastly with everyone driving while talking and texting & hauling buns through parking lots, IE moive theater I will take the in your face brightness.

Also Chevy has two different tailights. One with LED brake lights and one for the incandescent models. reflectors are different for the backup lights in the two
