They're called aerospats. They're for wind deflection resulting in better gas mileage. I removed mine, looks better.

From the Silverado brochure: "What’s an aerospat, you ask? They are new air deflectors positioned in front of the rear tires to direct air around them, helping reduce turbulence and drag. The result is a more efficient driving experience."

Removed them on both my 14 and 15. No issues at all. My 14 was a 4x4 Z71 dc 6.2 and regularly got 18-21. My 15 is a 4x4 Z71 cc 5.3 and regularly get 19-22.

My biggest complaint is who ever installing them can't center them with the wheel.

they are not supposed to be centered.

Aerospats, schmarospats....wouldn't be any good for aerodynamics with the turbulence of my bulky tubular steps in front of them anyway.

Left them on because they do make excellent stoneguards both for the tubular steps and rocker panels, just like the mating stoneguards on the rear of both front and rear fenders.

Removed mine, noticed no difference. Looks much better, any plastic I can remove is a step in the right direction.
