I compared the steering boxes of my truck '17 LT regular cable 6L & my brother's truck, '16 SLE crew cab D'max before New Years. The boxes do look different. Sorry I didn't take a pic, the light wasn't the best & the box isn't all that visible w/ the D'max.

attached is a pic of the steering box on my 2016 crew cab wt. i do not know what dsa looks like so i cannot say whether i have it.

If you had digital, assist you would see a computer (ECM) type box attached to it. Looks like you do not have it

I'm thinking there was some wiring involved.

I dropped off the truck for the second time related to this issue. appx 4000 miles after the first correction the alignment is off and still a very inconsistant in the feel of the steering wheel. The pump noise has increased to very audiable in the vehicle now as well.

The tech that went with a ride along today stated that the box was replaced in my truck but the paperwork did not state any thing replaced. Im starting to get a very uncomfortable feeling with the way the dealer and GM are handling this. The worst part is that I have no vehicle bucause the dealer did not have a loaner to lend me....and this is my problem???

I called GM to ask why and they simply stated the dealer has to file additional paperwork......unbelievable!!!

Lets see if they can get this fixed right this time. Has anyone delt with GM in regards to this and recieved any kind of extended warranty or anything?

They've got a lot full of used vehicles.

Even though a new steering box may not be the final solution to this problem the only way you will get your original replaced is if the dealer requests it from GM tech support. My dealer did it by stating the latest TSB (D) did not work. I am convinced the problem is related to the digital assist because the looseness/tightness of the wheel changes with speed. For me it becomes loose between 45-72 mph. Outside of that range the wheel is a much tighter feeling. If it was the nut backing out speed would not change the feeling in the wheel. But maybe yours is different but I doubt it.

Mine is the same as well 50-75mph, just took mine in today, 2016 Denali 2500 HD also had a loud clunk from the drivers side under the hood off road. Might be related to the steering problems?!

Dealer called back,

Hey good news we re aligned it since its under warranty. why did it need another alignment I asked? could be from going offroading or pot holes, speed bumps he says....so I say guess I will be back every week.

Feeling from steering wheel is normal....during a turn. Really so super easy then all of a sudden it tightens up??? wow!

Booster pump is operational and the noise is what it is. WTF...so for all you that can hear pump noises in your 60K+ truck....that's normal.

I have had this truck 6 months and I'm done with it. To hell with GM.

Anyone w/ a '16 have or driven a '15 or '14 GMT900 2500HD before? I remember when the DSA was intro'd some people were wondering why this nonsense was developed. Some clown trying to reinvent the wheel?

Got mine back today. Not happy.... the leak is apparently fix and the cause was a damaged o-ring. Damaged while performing the 'D' bulletin. She does drive better but the steering is super light. Doesn't feel right. The steering used to be very confident and now not so much. The dealer said several people drove it and they thought it was ok.

Here is the build sheet on my 2016 crew work truck. I don't see it.

You don't have it. I'm confident base trucks or WT do not have it in any chassis configuration

Update: My truck is not driveable. Took it to another dealer today after the dealership I purchased the truck at said take it to another dealer. Called GM to complain and GM denied my buy back because the purchasing dealer said it drives, OK. The brake issue could be a hydrobost pressure variance or some bull crap. Told GM I was taking the truck to another dealer. Got there 45 minutes later, pissed off and frustrated to no end. Drove with a tech and the truck would turn right when applying the brake. He couldn't get past the random turning to focus the the steering slop. He got it back to the service lane and told the service manager I can't drive it home. I was put in another loaner.

I can now say I've driven almost every Chevy and GMC product as loaner cars because of steering issues, emissions issues, random electrical issues....

Next time I'm going to record how this truck drives and post it on YouTube,

Class action is the only way to grab their attention. Everyone on these forums and anyone else out there experiencing this issue that hasn't found this site and others like it will hopefully come forth. GM is playing with lives and hard earned money. I know that Canada has a federal Transportation Dept but does the US that handles complaints of vehicle failure? It is gd shame that these new trucks have such problems.
