Frank120 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 This truck has been terrible ever since 2,000 miles... First it has this HORRIBLE engine noise, 2nd it has had a huge water leak that made the dealer replace All of the carpet (still never replaced the wiring harness that was under water for who knows how long) has issues with the dash lights and radio which I'm 100% sure it's from the old water leak. It ended up being a cab vent that was never installed right from the factory causing the truck to have a opening for water to enter my can when I washed it or when it rained. Every time I bring it to the dealer they say they do not hear it when managers are around and when the tech is alone he says he hears it. They replaced the vacuum pump and said it fixed the noise. NOPE! Still there. And dealing with Chevy customer service is a joke. They don't care at all and won't help. I regret my decision of buying this 2016 Silverado over a 2016 Dodge Ram. At least when my ram had a bad engine noise it had a ton of miles. Not 2,000!!!! I will post a video to YouTube and post the link. I have no clue what it is. I know for a fact it is not the normal direct injection noise. I am not new to engines that are DI. My truck only has 4,000 miles now. This is a joke! No new truck should have these problems! My truck was out of service for 28 days and no one even offered any compensation from the dealer or Chevy corporate. It's going to take a lot from Chevy to keep me as a customer.
Frank120 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 I know the noise is not normal because my dad and I both have 2016 silverados and his does not sound like this. Nor did the 3 different loaner 5.3l trucks I got as well. Here's the first video. Ryan that will be my next step
ChevyBrad1500 Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Try emailing your problems to the following, it worked for me: [email protected]
pm26 Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 That engine sounds a lot like my 1985 Mercedes 300 diesel.
cbrsilv15 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 That's what every K2 motor I've heard sounded like. Can you take a vid of one that doesn't sound like that?
O_J_Simpson Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 They are first generation DI engines for the K2 trucks. They all sound that way. Did you not test drive it?
HondaHawkGT Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Injector noise. Do you know much about direct injection? This is what it sounds like. The thin 0W-20 oil also seems to give the engine a more "sewing-machine" quality to it. Get a louder exhaust if it bothers you.

Some new diesel engines are actually quieter.
Frank120 Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 It's not the normal direct injection noise. I am VERY familiar with engines and direct injection. I've had my truck running next to 3 other 2016 5.3s. I feel It's not normal because it's not a constant noise. Direct injection if you take a scope to it and examine wave patterns you can see the on time of the injector and the off time. You will see that it is always consistent. Which is why I know injectors are consistent. This noise I am hearing is not consistent. Its always a random pattern with different noises.
Frank120 Posted July 13, 2016 Author Posted July 13, 2016 Here's a better video so you guys can hear what I'm hearing. In the other videos I posted it seems people think What I'm hearing is the injectors. This video should show the noise better
Graphic Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Doesn't sound like the injectors to me. That is not what mine sounded like at all. Like you said, no rhythm to it...
