Vleds SMZ Bulbs

Looks like a brand new product from vleds, not the most lumen output but they make a quality product and figured for under 150 bucks why not. Should compliment my morimoto xb fogs pretty well. Certainly cheaper then buying a new truck...

I just installed these and they are SUPER bright. no issues so far, but its only been a week.

On the webpage at the bottom of the details list it states "Not for use in low voltage high/low beam DRL applications." I'm guessing that means Silverados and especially Sierra's since one light is used for all three functions? You think maybe they say that so that the actual lights last closer to the lifespan expectancy they state?

Well, I don't have them yet (although I did get a shipping confirmation yesterday... Woop!) so I can't answer accurately. But I did put a volt meter on my truck the other day because I was curious. It read anywhere from 13.5v-14.5v. It read the same for both drl and the actual low beam headlight. So I'm not sure it will be an issue amigo!

Word to the wise: make the holes in the dust covers slightly above the exact center of them. Otherwise the cooling fins are being torqued too much from the cover and your grommet won't fit quite right. In the worse case scenario, you'll break the bracket that your h11 bulb locks into off the back of the projector housing. Not that I know about this or anything.... (I know all about it unfortunately) currently exploring options as to where I can pick one of those up. Having zero luck so far

Otherwise the cooling fins are being torqued too much from the cover and your grommet won't fit quite right. In the worse case scenario, you'll break the bracket that your h11 bulb locks into off the back of the projector housing. Not that I know about this or anything.... (I know all about it unfortunately) currently exploring options as to where I can pick one of those up. Having zero luck so far

We talking the same smz bulbs here?

These do not have a fan with heat sinks like the lmz ones do, they use that braided metal ribbon type cooling setup which i believe go through the supplied grommet and hang freely out the back of the dust cap.

Yeah, we're talking about the same bulb. Poor word choice on my part. But the hole still needs be a little more "north" on the dust cap so the cooling ribbons are free of obstruction and so the grommet fits correctly

Sorry should of noticed you posted multiple times in this thread already my mistake. Any chance you can snap a picture of the dust cap and the proper placement of the hole? Although i'm not sure how much difference there is between a silvy and sierra.

Absolutely amigo. Ill take pics tonight. High beam was successful. Low beam is the one broke that projector housing

I just put switchback LED's for my blinkers now my headlights look really bad even with the whitest halogen bulb I can buy. Thinking these LED's for my low and high beams will get everything the same colour and hoping it'll be a little brighter too.

I just put switchback LED's for my blinkers now my headlights look really bad even with the whitest halogen bulb I can buy. Thinking these LED's for my low and high beams will get everything the same colour and hoping it'll be a little brighter too.

As far as the brightness of the high beam... Holy cow. It's great. I go to work early in the morning when there's no traffic and got to test it. You're definitely going to light some things up

Yeah definitely get that bracket fixed before worrying about the flicker haha If you can't get just that part might have to get a new housing. I bought a pair off eBay fairly cheap. Well compared to dealer prices that's for sure.
