What lease deals did you guys get?

For people that change vehicles every 3 years regardless, buying doesn't pay. Pay $50k for a truck use it for 3 years, then trade or attempt to sell it which anyone knows who has tried selling a $30k+ vehicle privately is a nightmare...only to find out u barely sell it for what you owe or lose money. To each his own...you can lease and yes, spend $15k+ And just give it back, but in a sense you are doing the same thing if you buy, and decide switch vehicles often. Everyone has their own finances or opinions. I'm just looking for some good deals people have gotten leasing these beautiful trucks.

Exactly.

Those who were bagging on leases aren't versed in them or in smart financing. For those who don't keep vehicles for more than 3 years, leasing is the better way to go if/when they have lease deals.

Exactly why I lease!

I first stopped at one dealership, similar truck, guy was gonna do it for $4800 for 2 years

In the mean time before I signed I had to call my uncle for his GMS employee number, before I signed he told me to call "his guy"

So i entertained the idea. Called his guy. Guy said he'd do the deal for $4500. Never looked back and signed for $4500

Don't get me wrong idk how I got such a good deal, cuz the salesmen told me to bring a check for $5600, and he'd cut me a check for 1100, simple math brings u to $4500 for 2 years. I didn't ask or complain

I just did the paperwork on mine today. 2017 Z71 regular cab. Msrp 44,275.

Gms pricing lease at 460 a month for 39 months, 10k a year.

Sign and drive.

I'll buy the truck at the end of the lease if nothing better comes out in 3 years.

for a regular cab??? Hahahaha no freakin way you're gonna pay that much right?

Kinda my thoughts too but I was not going to say anything.......

Yup. There's no deals on regular cabs anywhere. I even went to other dealers to see what they were offering and the payments were all the same unless I wanted a stripped down work Truck. I ended up ordering one the way I wanted it. Got a year newer for a few more bucks a month.

Trading your vehicle every 3 years is not being smart with your money either. So because you decide to get rid of your vehicles every 3 years doesn't make leasing a better option it just means you love making payments for things you'll never own.

Were you dead set on a regular cab? If the deals were better on a double cab, why not get that for less or the same?

Yes, I always buy vehicles with two doors. I don't like the look of sedans or extended cab or crew cab trucks. I also don't have a use for one being single with no kids. My dog fits in the middle of the bench seat just fine lol

Like I said, I ordered what I wanted so I'm happy with it.

Abearclaw, your reply proves the point I made, you aren't versed in leasing and why so many people lease and why it works so well for millions.

Old saying: Buy what appreciates, lease what depreciates.

I'm not sure if that holds true right now. 2.39% APR for a new car loan currently. If people would like to post more numbers, or have an accurate source of real depreciation values, I'd love to run more numbers. As was stated earlier in the thread, the 0.68 or 0.69 figure isn't probably what you could expect to get trading in a vehicle.

Using the .69 figure you'd be looking at 0.66% depreciation per month. That seems low on a new vehicle.

With

N=36

PV=54526-(0.69*62165)=$11632

PMT=-600

That's a 3.82% monthly interest rate???

You're forgetting to add in TT&L to the PV, a big chunk of which would be sales tax on the entire purchase in TX.

Not sure what you're referring to or how it relates to my post that you quoted. Maybe you meant to quote another persons post???

But again, there is a reason why businesses, large and small, and people, rich and not so rich, lease gear, cars, equipment, etc.

There's also tax advantages too it. I'm in the process of ordering (buying) a 2017 Chevy SS as it's the last model year of that car.

It "may" hold it's value over the coming years due to that. So of course there IS a time and place to buy, but those who understand the benefits of leasing, including each person's individual reasons and preferences for it, leasing makes a lot of sense for millions.

I leased my 2017 Sierra Crew Cab 4x4 6.2 this past weekend, because I know it will depreciate and I won't keep in more than 3 years anyway. So pointless to pay more each month for it on a loan, and then possibly take even more of a loss when I go to sell and it's worth less than I owe. As well as paying 10% tax on $58k cost of truck rather than 10% tax just on the $20k I use for 3 years. That alone is a savings of $3k+

over and out.

Interesting topic. There are certainly pros and cons to buying or leasing. I would consider a lease if I only planned to keep a vehicle for 2-3 years and put on low miles in that time.

One nice advantage of buying is that (even with depreciation) you have some equity when your loan is up. If you maintain the vehicle very well, that could be a respectable amount. That's a nice down payment on the next one.

I'm not for or against leasing. I believe it's for the right people.

There are people I know that only see that low monthly payment of a lease (vs. buying) and are drawn in to that. And for these individuals it's more about being able to drive around a more expensive vehicle to impress others rather than simply purchasing a more affordable one.
