Window Tint Questions/Photo Requests

Hey everyone, I have a 2016 midnight edition silverado 1500 truck that I'm looking to get window tinting done on, but I am just curious as to which % to use. Do I have to go lower in the back since it's already somewhat tinted? Also if someone could post a picture of their windshield with the visor tint so I can see how that looks.

Any pictures of your tint would be great along with what % is it. Thanks a ton!

I believe they all come with 20% on the back, so I just tinted my front sides 20% to match (matches perfectly). This is what I've done with every vehicle I've owned in a long time. I think most all factory tint is 20% in the back, since it has to comply with all state laws. Technically where I am (SD), legal limit on front side windows is 35%, so my 20% is illegal, but have never had a problem.

Didn't do any windshield tint

I just had this decision on my 16. I went with 20% on the two front windows. From the outside, it matches perfectly. On the inside, the front windows seem darker but not by much. I actually like it because I can still see out of the back at night. On my last 1500, I had 15% over the back windows and I couldn't see a dang thing if it was dark out.

35% 3M on mine. It's definitely lighter in the front. But tint laws are terrible in PA and I didn't want to go to much darker.

Has anyone had any luck doing the tint themselves with one of those pre-cut kits?

If you do it I would recommend watching a lot of videos and maybe practice first. I see screwed up tint jobs all the time with nothing but air bubbles. I think the best way to apply it is to soak it in soapy water so you can move and adjust it, then squeegee the water from underneath and of course start from the inside and go out.

Too be honest I would just do a shop that does tint. It really doesn't cost much. I know it may be different, but a local "aftermarket" shop did my 2 front windows and the windshield brow for $100. I say that because it's just easy to screw it up. I can barely put on decals without air bubbles because I don't have much patients so I can't imagine trying to tint.

Thanks for all the posts guys. I'm still up in the air if I should get the windshield brow or not. I wish I could see a midnight edition with it. Feel free to keep posting! I love seeing photos of the trucks.

This might not help you, It's a bit overcast.

2016 midnight edition, factory rear, 15% fronts, 30% windshield. I can take a pic from the inside - out if you like.

Nice Man! I'm not that bold to do the windshield, but I was going t go with 20% , I'm not sure if they can do 15% here.

20% ceramic film just on front door. Heat difference is amazing!! Considering doing the 70% on my windshield.

Yeah that looks good, I'm also thinkin about going with 70% on the windshield. If you do it before I get around to it post some pix [emoji1303]

Still unsure if I will do it or not. I don't know if the 70% will be noticeable but the heat reduction would be nice. I'd like to see it if you do it first also.
