I know each state is different on enforcing tint, but I highly recommend getting any percentage on the windshield you feel comfortable with. Even 70-80% helps a lot with cooling.

I was thinking that pure UV blocking film was allowed on windshields now, but I cant seem to find the specific DOT regulation.

I'm in KY as-well, they don't seem to give a shit about window tint around here. Back in AZ they write fix-it tickets left and right for it.

Better picture of the 35% in front and factory tint in the rear.

Mine goes to the tint shop Tuesday. Limo black back light. 35% side windows. 90% front. All UV A/B-Infrared ceramic block. No visor. Heat management is the goal plus making, I hope, my rearview mirror useable at night. I now see a perfect reflection of my dash in the night position of the rearview mirror.

What are you guys getting charged just for tinting the top of the windshield? Might do that next

At first I had my front 2 windows and the windshield brow done for $100. A few weeks later I had to replace the windshield and the same shop only charged $35 to do just the brow. Not sure if it would be close to that where you live because on 1 side of their sign it said tint sale. Not sure if they really were having a sale on tint or if that was just a way to get people to go to them for tint.

Still unsure if I will do it or not. I don't know if the 70% will be noticeable but the heat reduction would be nice. I'd like to see it if you do it first also.

Mine is 70% from the factory. It definitely helps. I see your username is bayou allterrain. Do you live in Louisiana? I do and got pulled over by an over zealous state trooper absolutely tripping on the fact that my front window was factory tinted. He said he has never seen or heard of such. He took pictures of the factory sticker and my inspection sticker and said he was calling the dealership to ask why they put an inspection sticker on it with the front window tinted. It was a little on the ridiculous side. He didn't care about the fact that all rear windows are 5% or that my front side windows are 18%. He just kept going on and on about the fact that my front window was tinted and it was against the law in Louisiana and I had to pull it off. And did I know he could have me towed for that. I mean on and on. After about 20 minutes of making phone calls to his superiors I assume, and taking the pictures he said I needed to get it taken of, meaning pull it off. Didn't give a ticket though. On a side note. My bosses 2015 gmc has the factory tinted front window and his isn't even noticeable, to the point he's been driving it for over a year and had no idea it was even tinted, because he hasn't tinted any of the other windows aside from the factory tint that is.

Here it is now. 5% on front side windows and the factory rears have 35% on them.

Thinking about getting 70% on the windshield with a 5% brow. Just not sure about how bad it will be at night.

Here is mine with 5% rear, 18% front, and 70% factory windshield tint. Excuse the dirt. Spent all weekend clearing shooting lanes so it's filthy. post-162255-147430566467_thumb.jpgpost-162255-147430567697_thumb.jpgpost-162255-14743057813_thumb.jpg

Yes I'm near Baton Rouge. You? I'm surprised they even noticed 70%. Did they pull you over for that or something else and just noticed it?

North Louisiana, around Monroe. Nope. He pulled me over for the windshield tint.

    • Curious, did anyone ever get a fix for the vibration reported here.   I have a 2024 Silverado with 6.6 duramax.   I’m noting the same vibration resonating up through the steering shaft into the steering wheel.    Best way to describe- like someone is tapping on the steering shaft/components and it’s resonating into the steering wheel.    thanks.
    • Hi friends - first time poster. I have a 2015 sierra Denali with 150k miles, I’m the second owner and she’s given me 75k of great service. I run a pulse AFM disable device. Starting Thursday when I exited the freeway after a short local ride it started idling rough, with an obvious misfire shake and was down on low end power.  I got it home and hooked it up to my scannner and found no codes but in live data a pretty bad misfire on cylinder 5. I replaced the coil, plug and wire with all new OE replacements (Delphi gn10165 coil, acdelco wire and 41-168 plug). It’s still behaving the same way after firing the parts cannon at it.   I know cyl 5 is a non AFM cylinder so I am not thinking this is AFM related but I’m kinda at a loss. injector? Bent pushrod? It’s running too well over 1k rpm to suggest those IMO. Has anyone chase this issue before and what was it? Any suggestions?
    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?.
