My truck has made this noise since day 1. It has not worsened or caused any issue in the 3 years I have owned the truck. The noise has been brought up before and is very very common. I don't remember if anyone has ever 100% confirmed what makes the noise. I assumed it's either the oil pump or the vacuum asist pump for the brakes.

I am really wondering if it doenst have something to do with the multiple displacement oil pump they are running now. You can kind of hear the noise change when it shifts into 2nd and really starts to take off.

Reviving an old thread. My 2018 makes this same noise. I took it to the dealer last week. They pulled the drive belts off and checked all the pulleys and said they were all smooth and felt good. I would love to know what it is. Dealer said there is nothing wrong, but they could hear it too.

I had the same issue. An annoying faint whine between 1500 rpms when accelerating sounds like it’s coming from behind the gauge cluster.

Change the automatic volume setting. When I set mine to Med-high I haven’t had the issue since

Anyone have a different outcome with this?  Mine started recently (49k miles on the truck) and I want to get to the bottom of it if possible.

I drive a 2018 Chev Silverado 6.2L, also I have the same whining noise. My dealer told me it was the air pump and the noise was normal. The noise is there on idle and also when the engine is revved it gets louder.

sounds like converter or transmission pump failure, what ever you do don't do any wide open throttle flogs, the trans will die fast.. my 2012 Sierra does this and its pre failure noises. if your smart youll rebuild the trans or sell the truck before the repair cost go up

. We have a 2018 Silverado 2500 HD diesel truck with 99,000 miles on it. All maintenance, fluids, def have been all checked, refilled and coolant container replaced, The truck started making a “whining” sound that has never been heard before. It happens when acceleration into 2-5 speeds and continues while engine is on. We took it in and the computer did not find anything wrong with it. My question to anybody is can the computer be wrong? Is there something else we could have checked? The shop had nothing else to offer us. Reading these questions tells me that there is something else wrong. Help please. We just spent 2000$ so far on this issue with the noise still the same. The shop even heard the noise. What else can we do? Thank you
