New 2017 Denali. Comments and impressions.

After my 2014 SLT, 5.3 was totaled, my insurance finally came through I was able to pick up a 2017 Denali. I was going to get the ultimate package, however they had one with black 22's and nearly everything on it minus the trip-mode power steps. It was marked down 3k as someone did not know how to park and put a tiny scuff on the rim. Needless to say I went that route. I like the idea of the power steps, however with my little kids playing around, I am good with the fixed mount steps and might upgrade later.

First, I love this truck. The 6.2 is a blast to drive. So much power at low RPM's and little to no hesitation when hitting the gas. Anyone on the fence about the 6.2 vs the 5.3, tear the fence down and just pull the trigger on the 6.2. I really did not want 22's and it really does turn this truck into a pavement cruiser, however the ride is so smooth and quite. I will invest in some 18's or 20's soon to rotate.

I know the styling and trim has not changed that much however what has changed is mostly for the better. Overall the truck just feels tighter. The headlights are now awesome, super bright and a good throw down the road. The radio works now and no more static. The AC is really cold and hopefully my compressor won't blow at 18k miles. The Mylink system is responsive and is faster. I have Apple Carplay, however not that impressed with it. The brakes are an improvement and seats feel firmer and more supportive. The transmission feels good with the 8 speed. Also the painted bumpers really add to the look and now it feels like there is just the right amount of chrome. A few things I don't like is they moved away from the red lighting (cost cutting measure)? and still no rear vents or push button start. Also they could paint the lift gate handle, the plastic just feels cheap.

I looked at Ford and Dodge and still despite lacking some technology upgrades they have, the GMC is way more fun to drive.

Can you take a picture of this? What color is it now? I would like to see the console and display? What color is it around the buttons now

Nice truck! I know it has been said many times before on this forum but there are vents under the front seats directed to the back. I did not know this until I had my last truck for a few years. I use to put the dash vents on full to try to cool the back. If you set your adjustment to the floor vents, you will get a nice, even temperature throughout the cab. I know some find it more refreshing to feel the air blowing directly at them but for me the current system is very effective.

All the 2017 GMC trucks got the blue lighting around the switches, dash, and gauges just like the Silverado now.

Although it's very labor intensive, there was a guy on here that shared a huge write up on changing ALL of the interior lighting to blue on his new Silverado. Window switches, steering wheel buttons, everything. Looked pretty sharp. I would imagine that one could do the same for any vehicle in any color. It did look VERY labor intensive, so, have to want different color lighting really bad.

The Silverado was always blue lighting the Sierra has always been red till the 2017s.

You know what would be neat if they just used clear and let you selected the color like any number of aftermarket LED gizmos for less than $50.

It cannot even really be cost saving with those kind of number either. Would prefer if I want purple or hot pink I can have it.

Yeah, but the guy removed every single clear light and added a colored piece of plastic to change the color of all of the lighting. I'm Sure it could be done to the blue lights...remove the light and replace with a red. Not saying it's practical, but it can be done. Do a search, can find the thread where he changed every clear/white bulb and made them blue. I would imagine one could replace every led with a different color.

I understand that and have seen the thread you are referring to. However I would not want to take everything in my dash apart just to do that. The guy I originally replied to asked what the color of the dash lights were now. I'm glad I got a 16 as I like the red color over the blue.

Same here. I like the red. And I would never spend that much time changing light colors. I do think it's kind of cool, but too labor intensive for me. Just saying it seems possible, depending on how bad you want it.
