What makes a high country a high country?

Prior to 2017 what really made Highcountry a high country was the fact that it came with a brown saddle colour interior, right? Now in 2017 you can get a high country with a black interior. The high country is just really an LTZ Silverado with a set of n60 highway shocks. Are there antother things that distinguish a high country from the LTZ Silverado?

Back when I was truck shopping, I couldn't find a reason to get a High Country over a Denali. To me, its Chevy's version of a luxury trim level. It was basically the same price as a Denali, was less customizable as the Denali and lacked many of the bells and whistles of the Denali. More importantly, it doesn't have the name recognition of Denali either, which I expect means its trade in value would be lower.

 

Maybe it wasn't meant to be a luxury trim line, and if that's the case, then its marketing isn't very good at distinguishing what it really is. Maybe it was meant to be Chevy's version of "King Ranch Edition" of F-150s.

Nope still no mag ride. As others have said it's basically a Denali without mag ride and the digital instrument cluster.

 

Starting soon you can order a "Silverado High Country High Desert" which will get you mag ride but still not the nicer cluster and it comes with this horrible Avalanche-like storage system in the bed:

dont' you also get the paint matched bumpers with the High Country? I didn't think those came with the SLT automatically - I thought the chrome ones did instead...?

It's just Chevy's version of Ford's King Ranch "Cowboy Truck." I think Dodge has one too. The Saddle colored interior is a love it or hate it thing. When I was shopping, I found one that was actually cheaper than an LTZ, both with 6.2 engines. Nice truck, but that interior was a deal breaker for me. I know other guys like it, to each is own. I just decided to keep my old '14 LTZ a while longer.
