Tow Mirrors

I will say having the little mirrors is probably nicer on a daily basis if you're not towing all the time.

I guess it goes back to what I started driving w/. My father's 1st truck was a 3/4 regular cab which I learned to drive in. His next truck was a 3/4 ton crew cab. Both had the larger than stock (DF2?) mirrors. I was kind of disappointed when I bought my '82 & the mirrors had been rotated to be horizontal. I heard @ the time this was for aerodynamics (?)

On each mirror he added a stick on round convex mirror to the lower outboard corner.

BTW, the truck in the pic was not ours, just an image from the 'net.

I love them. Def. takes time to set them up just right. I use the lower mirror heavily for checking blind spot and lane changes. Uppers do great at watching traffic behind me.

The convex portion only adjusts left/right, correct? My problem is I'm fairly tall and I have the seat way up, so I have to duck down to see back very far out of the convex piece. Unless I'm missing something and the convex does tilt up/down also.

You can easily swap the small for big, maybe a wrecked truck because new they are expensive. I went from a Ford with big mirrors to my 3/4 ton Sierra with the same and they are both great. From the bottom mirror I can see from the front door handle back right down to the rear tire. It makes backing up great and you know exactly where your at. Also changing lanes is just a quick glance.

I have my smaller bottom mirrors adjusted so that I see down the side and corners for backing, lane-changes, etc. The upper portion is used to see behind me in a larger field of view. It takes a few trips to get them "just right" and get used to them over the smaller stock mirrors, but they are great once you do.

They adjust up and down as well. Mine do on my 2016 anyway.

Lower convex can go up, down, left and right.

I would much rather they had done a full mirror on the tow mirrors and then I put one of those round spot mirrors in the corner. The little sliver of spot mirror on the bottom is really not all that great of a deal. I suppose it is from being more used to the larger west coast style mirrors on my commercial trucks. But was looking at another brand recently (can't recall the brand) that had full mirrors and had those stick on round spot mirrors in the corners and it seemed like a more useful mirror. Haven't started looking, but would be nice to find a replacement, if available, that would allow the towing mirror size, but just be a single piece of mirror instead of a split. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

My lowers adjust both ways as well.

Yeah, I found that they do, I had to push harder basically. I didn't want to break anything so I didn't force it at the time.

Only other issue with relying on the convex part so much is that they aren't heated right?

Correct.

Only the top is heated.
