Slow WiFi speeds?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I've tried using the free 3gb that come with my new Silverado, but don't use it because it's really slow. I think it's at 3g speeds. I did a speed test and I can barely hit 1mbs. Ive tried in different areas and it's the same everywhere. Anyone else have this problem?

I never even used the free data that came with my truck.. waste. I hit one button on my phone and have a 4G hotspot for anyone that needs it.

Yeah don't really plan on using it either but it should still be 4g. Never know if may ever need it in the future. Just wondering of its normal.

GM made what in my opinion was a massively stupid decision to switch from Verizon to AT&T for OnStar and the other wireless services on the 2014+ vehicles. Perhaps they don't have LTE in your area.

Do you have any way of checking the real world att coverage in the area you are trying to use the truck wifi in? Not the att coverage map which I never believe, real world use.

My AT&T wifi was slower than my Verizon LTE regardless where I was. I set up my hotspot if someone else needs it. I'm assuming it was a network issue and not a hardware issue if that's what you were asking.

We have very spotty cell data where i live so tethering the truck to my att account was nice. 3g is still better than no g.

Well my area has good AT&T coverage so I think it's something with the truck.

There were days where my trucks wifi was faster than my Verizon FIOS at home and other days where it was slower than AOL dialup. I only used it for a couple months before I realized it was just cheaper to up the data on my phone a couple gigs.

I have unlimited on my phone with Hotspot. But I tried out the 4g on my truck and it's fast. It's just AT&T so if you get good AT&T service where you are it will be fast

This is what i get outside of work. Aside from the ping they are close. But i do have to say that in some areas i will get terrible results with the wifi and my Verizon is blazing fast.

It’s just horrible. I get 3 down and maybe 1 up. My prepaid cricket service is 100 down and 20 up. I guess it’s enough to stream video. Just a disappoint.
