The Torque Convertor is an on going problem with the 8 speeds first. Now the 6 speeds are failing. Same sub supplier built both units per GM.

Getting my torque convertor replaced at the moment and the stator.

Mine is a 2015 8 speed.

Yikes. I've got a lot of these issues with my 2016 Sierra 5.3, amongst so many squeaks and rattles. Haven't gotten much better treatment at any of the three Chevy/GMC dealerships in my area. Maybe I should take it to the Cadillac garage

A thought........Maybe the problem is not the tranny, but the engine causing the problems. New TYech bulletin describes a manufacturing defect in the casing air filter/ MAF sensor in some '14 - '17 Silverados which can lead to rough idling, harsh shifting and throttle sputter..

I have a new '17 5.3 with 700 miles. Since day one, the power seems very sluggish and the tranny seems to hunt for gears at lower speeds. I recently had a '16 Ram 5.7 temporarily through work, and it was night and day from what the Chevy feels like. I'm still holding onto the hope it's a learning break in period, but after reading the posts, I'm becoming less than hopeful.

Give it some time. I came from an 06 silverado 5.3. And I thought the same thing. 17,000 miles later on my 15 it's shifts fine. It did take some time to get use to but no I don't even think about it anymore.

I have a 2017 1500 silverado LT with 2000 miles. Truck is miserable to drive. Always feels like there is a engine miss and random transmission shudder. Happens specifically when under light acceleration. Example: 40 miles an hour and light acceleration. You feel shudder in seat of your pants and engine stumbles to accelerate. Also, at a stop, I held brake down(Traction Control was off) and brought RPM's to 1500. Under this load engine missed.

Brought to dealer and they say nothing is wrong with it! Any help is appreciated.

I recommend that you work within the hierarchy of your dealership for a resolution and, if not satisfied, work through the complaint process with GM. Describing your truck as "miserable to drive" must be a dramatic change from your test drive! Start with your salesman and try working together with him/her and the service department to see what "changed". It sometimes feels good to commiserate with others on this forum but the answer is at a dealership. I've had my current truck for 15 months and look forward to driving it everyday!

Took to my third dealer. They finally listened to me and removed the transmission and torque convertor. As I suspected through 20 years of service experience that was the problem. Torque Convertor was eating itself and pump was failing. Bell Housing was replaced with new pump as comes together. Seem s fine now. Chevrolet would not replace the whole transmission. Just flushed and replaced fluid with new parts. I suspect failure in future.

Well at least if failure is imminent, you're low enough in miles that it should fail under the warranty period. Not the best solution, but its better than paying.

I did not test drive it as it was delivered to me by my company. They picked the vehicle not me, but I will be in it for the next 160,000 miles. Thats every four years. No towing or hauling, just driving! My previous model was a 2011. Transmission and rear end failed at 125,000 miles. pathetic!

Good one! Salespeople only give a rat's ass about the sale!

Salespeople are doing a job to support themselves and most strive to do well. Their goal is to make money for themselves and their employer. Having satisfied, repeat customers is an effective way to enhance profit. I am treated well by my past two salesman at separate GM dealerships. Both still call me by name and both have helped me out with after sale purchases or concerns. I appreciate that you may have unfavorable experiences but don't believe this to always be the case.

Not always --- maybe 95 - 98%. Salespeople are there to sell, not hold your hand. They may express concern but will blow you off ASAP and direct you to service.
