Help with oil leak on 2015 1500 silverado CC Z71 17,000 miles

Hey, I'm hoping some of you with more mechanical knowledge than me can help with my issue. I bought my truck in February of 2016. I've enjoyed the truck, but after my second oil change at the dealership (10,000 miles) I noticed some oil drops on my garage floor. I've taken the truck to the dealer 3 times to fix this issue, but the truck is still leaking 3-4 drops per week. Each time the explanation is that the sealant around the oil pain is leaking. I'm attaching some pictures to hopefully help diagnose the issue. I'm taking the truck back to the dealer again today. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Oil pan gasket, oil filter gasket leak, or rear main seal. Wipe it off real well, start it and let it idle for 20-30 min to see if you can catch where it's leaking from. When you drive it, the wind can make leaking fluids look like they are leaking from places they are not. Then take a pic, show the dealer.

They should replace that sealant or gasket under warranty if they noticed that as the issue.

Brian's advice is good IF you were going to have to repair it yourself. Take it to the dealer and let them figure out where it is leaking and then fix it. That is why you have a warranty.

Yeah it is still under warranty. Thanks, I'm going to take it to them again today, hopefully we can get it corrected this time.

Hence why I said take a picture of it and show the dealer.

I'm missing something. If this is the explanation that your dealership is providing, then why didn't they repair the leak?

They've told me it should be fixed each time I've taken it, but it still leaks. I think it is something other than a oil pan seal because they've said that was the problem 3 times.

Try taking it to another dealer.

If you have a 5.3 make sure they only put in 8qts. It used to be 8.5. It GM revised it and changed it to 8. Overfilling can be an issue.

Some aluminum engine blocks had issues with porosity back a few years ago. I thought they had it fixed? Hopefully just a gasket on yours, nobody wants a dealership doing an engine swap on their new truck...................

Overfilling won't make it leak.

I had the same issue around 30k in my truck. They pulled the trans, GM has a tech bulletin out for this. Leaking from the flywheel bolts. Dealer had my truck for about 3-4 days, I was not pushing them. I wanted the job done right. I checked on it daily and they let me see it. I was grateful. Tech showed me they put new thread sealent on the flywheel bolts. I never heard of this.... FML. While they had it, they re-sealed the VTEC plate above the harmonic balancer which was leaking also. The VTEC cover is bone dry, never had another issue i'm at 56k now. My last oil change I noticed what looked to be more oil in the bell housing. I would find the tech bulletin and have them do the job while it's under warranty! Seems like I cannot own a GM V8 w/out oil wetness in the bell housing... WTH.

I have a 2015 Silverado HD2500. I had problems threading new oil filter on the first oil change. Just did the second oil change and less than 1000 miles later I have a good oil leak from the oil filter mounting surface. My first filter was a Fram and the second was an AC Delco. This seams to be a common problem. Not sure the fix. On my way to get a new filter.

Just wanted to update my topic. Thankfully at the 5th trip to the dealer a technician found the source of the leak. The explanation on the invoice was "oil leak from engine block plug number 4." Thread sealant was applied, and the plug replaced. I haven't had a drop of oil leak from the truck since that visit. Truck is under warranty so I didn't have to pay anything, but I'm glad the hassle is over.
