Hi guys,

I just purchased a truck and am waiting to pick it up this weekend.

I bought a New 2015 silverado 1500 LTZ Z71. Are there any service bulletins I need to get? This is my first GM truck so I need any advice as to where the TSB are released.

Thanks.

there have been recalls for the seatbelt and also airbags, but you should run your VIN and do whatever recalls come up.

search on here for info about the seatbelt one before you let them cut up your seat trim though....

Thanks for that coke,

I just checked an no recalls. Im just worried about the TSB. Im not sure if the dealerships corrects any TSB when in for routine maint or do they wait for you to tell them.

You see thats the thing I dont want to rely on my dealership telling me which TSB can be done. Id rather know which ones and tell him. I have had instances where a Chysler service manager couldnt find a specific TSB untill I gave him the number thanks to a forum.

Heres one from the dealer website

There are a lot of service bulletins out there. The dealer will not check them unless you complain about something. They are listed on the NTHSA web site. For some reason they have a Silverado and a Silverado 1500 option and there are differences. Go to the Manufacturer Communications tab to look for service bulletins. Could take you quite a while to go through them all. For important ones I would ask about the radio and the AC system. My radio has had an updated calibration put on it several times, still not the greatest system. There is also a bulletin for the AC system where it will not cool correctly, it will blow warm air randomly. New calibration and good to go now. Also on the AC system, make sure they have blow down turned on. Mine was not originally and it still smells like mold. The recalls they have to do before selling it to you. Any other important TSBs they will have already done. The only one that comes to mind is a TSB on the U joint bolts.

The dealer is under no obligation to preform TSBs nor do they need to advise you about them. All a TSB does is inform the technician about the best practice to address a particular issue. Even if you get copies of all of them the dealer may not be willing to preform them unless the issue can actually be verified. Also keep in mind TSBs are only done at no cost while the truck is under warranty. Past that it'd be a cash job.

Congrats. Suggest you give the new truck a thorough test drive before accepting/paying for it. Get it out on the highway and run it up to 80 mph and check for possible vibrations.

Since you bought it new the dealer will perform any recalls for you.

As others have said the dealers do NOT have to inform you of any TSB's, PI's, or PIT's. You only find out about those if you ask. I don't know of any other links besides the ones already listed.

Thanks for the link andy! I was really just wanting to know of any tsb to look out for like the ones andy listed regarding the ac and balljoints to keep a close eye on if my truck acts up.

I know i had to take my chrysler car to get the sunroof bolts re tightened more than once because they would ratlle. Only to find out there was a tsb that they didnt know about after i told him about it.

Sk didnt get drive it faster than 80 i havent picked it up yet but my credit union already paid them. I wish i would have thought of it. I have read on this forum of some shaking issues

The recalls they have to do before selling it to you.

While that might be suggested, or even technically "required," that doesn't make it true.

The only reason I found out about the airbag recall was because of a thread on these forums. Looked up my truck and it hadn't been done.

Here in NY State you have 72 hours to cancel-wiggle out of a contract. Don't know if it's the same across the country though.
