Wheel weight and offset

Hello all,

Today I picked up a 2017 Sierra Crew Cab 4x4 SLT with Premium Plus package and 6.2 V8.

In the manual I couldn't find the info about the stock wheels.

Anybody know what these 20" wheels specs are?

I think they are 20 x 9 in size, but not sure.

Also wondering the offset of the stock wheels and if anybody has weighed them what they weigh?

Thanks

***Edit: Weighed them myself. 81.6 lbs brand new without the lug nuts.

roughly 40.5 lbs on tires and 41 lbs for wheels

Wheels 20 x 9Jx27

20's are 20x9.

I have no idea what they weigh.

18's are 18x8.5

17's are 17x8

I think the wheels are even heavier than that as I believe the Wrangler SRA's wegh in @ 39.5 lbs (according to car ID, amazon, & goodyear) I was keen on finding out since upgrading to heavier AT's I knew the stock wheels were very heavy compared to the aftermarket 20" wheels I ran w/ my winter tires, turns out they're 7.5 lbs lighter so helps offset BFG's that are 17 lbs heavier than stock

You may be right, I don't know where you found the weights of the 275/55/20 Goodyear SR-A tire, I can't find it anywhere, even checked the sites you listed.

Either way the total weight was 81.6 pounds and it seems most competitors tires in the 275/55/20 range are in the 40-41 lbs range, so I went off of that too.

What I'd really like to know is if the stock wheels truly are 27 offset as the stamp on the inside wheels state?

Just want to confirm.

The wheels I'm looking at are the same 20 x 9 size but have an offset of 18, which will push them out a 1/4" inch, which is about where I want them to be (1/4-1/2 inch further out for a bit more aggressive stance).

I'm looking at the same info. One thing to watch is the back spacing is 6" on OEM's I believe and most aftermarket Rims are 5.5"

Also watch the +/- offset numbers

20X9 wheel, 27mm offset. Bolt pattern is 6x139.7mm. GM published weight is 39.94lbs for the wheel. The 275/55/20 Continentals are 40 lbs. per tire. The 275/55/20 Goodyear Eagle LS2 is 40lbs. The 275/55/20 Goodyear SRA is 39.47lbs.

Nice, thanks for that.

I looked but couldn't find the "published" weight from GM anywhere.

Manufacturer weight, like is often the case, is the best case scenario for them, meaning it's probably the bare wheel before the chrome polishing and cap and such is added. Then nearly every wheel ever made is going to need wheel balancing weights as well.

So my estimation of 41 to 41.5 lbs for the wheel is probably quite accurate when dressed minus lug nuts. And as pointed out after weighing mine that leaves around 40 to 40.5 lbs for the tire too, which would put it right at the 81.6 pounds for the combo my scale stated. :)

Yeps GM doesn't list them anywhere other than in their parts system... :ninja:

My truck came with the 20" wheels. I don't know which tire though. I just bought a replacement set of 20" and these have the Continentals on them. So with your numbers I am setting at 80 lbs per wheel. I weighed my 18" with the Goodyear 265/65r18 on them and they weighed in at 61 lbs. So I have added 80 lbs of rotating mass. Yikes! I thought my mileage was a touch lower than it normally runs. It does seem to ride smoother though.

Great info, and in case anyone was curious I did the math on stock and my future setup based on 15HDriver's stock specs and some googling.

stock 20x9 39.94 lbs

SRA at 79.41 39.47 lbs

Stock total 79.41 lbs

Method NV 17x8.5 28.1 lbs

LT285/70/17 BFG Ko2 58.1 lbs

Method and ko2 86.2 lbs

So Im going to gain 6.79 lbs of rotating mass per corner. Not as bad as I though at first. Some of that weight is further out from center now too which Im sure will have some effect.

^^Look at my original post, I weighed them when they were brand new at 81.6 lbs wheels and tires. So if you're new wheel/tire combo is 86.2 lbs, you'll really only be about 5 lbs heavier.

All in the tires it seems which is therefore magnified a bit.

Yeah guessing the difference is in stems, wheel weights, TPMS etc. I excluded on both as theoretically they would be the same.
